Position Title: Youth Pastor (full-time)
- 75% Senior High (grades 9-12)
- 20% Jr. High (grades 6-8)
- 5% pastoral oversight of Boys and Girls Clubs (grades 2-5)
Purpose: The mission of our youth ministry program is to actively invite every youth to commit to a personal relationship and lifelong journey with Jesus Christ; to mentor them within a supportive church family;
to empower them to be disciples in the local and global community.
Exhibit strong Christian character that demonstrates a close relationship with God through personal devotions, worship, and prayer life.
Love God and people, especially youth and children
Be in agreement with the Confession of Faith in a Mennonite Perspective (1995)
Have a B.A. with some youth ministry education or equivalent ministry experience
Vision and Goals:
Challenge youth to commit their lives to Jesus Christ and continue to grow in their spiritual lives as they follow Jesus daily. Encourage youth to publicly commit themselves to Christ and the church through baptism.
Disciple youth and invite them to live out their faith through the study of the scriptures and biblical teaching, praying, worshipping, serving, outreach, evangelism and fellowship.
Help youth to understand and appreciate our Anabaptist faith.
Create a welcoming environment that promotes acceptance and belonging to all youth.
Coordinate and/or teach MYF Sunday School on a regular basis (approx. 3x per month) and Jr. MYF (approx. 1x per month). Select Sunday School curriculum or teaching materials.
Organize and facilitate Wednesday night Bible Study encouraging biblical teaching, prayer, worship, service, outreach, fun and fellowship.
Meet with MYF youth outside of church—sports, activities, breakfasts, etc.
Provide leadership that encourages youth to be mentored by congregational members.
Encourage youth to be a part of the congregational life (Youth Sunday, worship team, scripture reading, special music)
Participate in Vacation Bible School and have an active role.
Lead and facilitate a team of youth sponsors to minister to youth and work together to do the following:
-Lead monthly sponsor meetings (MYF and Jr. MYF)
-Create and manage MYF and Jr. MYF budget
-Plan and develop appropriate monthly activities (MYF)
-Organize and plan summer service projects/youth conventions/retreats (MYF).
Provide regular communication with parents of youth.
Provide parenting resources.
