Job Description:

First Baptist Church of Cuba, New Mexico is searching for a full-time pastor.  This person should have experience in a Southern Baptist church and preferably, training in a Southern Baptist seminary.  This person should also support the Cooperative Program.

Cuba is located approximately 85 miles northwest of Albuquerque on Highway 550.  The pastor of this church needs to have a love for multicultural people and ethnicities.  Responsibilities would include leadership, preaching Sunday morning, Sunday night, Wednesday evening prayer meeting and Bible Study, hospital visitation, home visitations, teaching, and dealing with diverse situations.

Sunday morning attendance is usually around 50.  Ministry endeavors of the church include youth group, women's ministry, VBS, outreach, seasonal activitities, visitation, community singspirations, children's ministry, young adult ministry, men's prayer breakfast, Sunday School, monthly dinners, music ministry, community events, and many others.

The leadership of FBC-Cuba is strong, but a "leader of leaders" is needed.  This person needs to have a sense of humor, tolerance, strong teaching and preaching abilities, and love for all people.

Cuba is a rural community (65 miles from a Walmart) located at the base of the Santa Fe National Forest.  There is high unemployment and various socio-economic levels.  Although the population of Cuba is less than 1,000, the combined population of the communities within a 30-mile radius is considerably more.  Within this small town are several grocery and convenience stores, repair shops, motels, restaurants, Cuba Independent Schools (http://cuba.k12.nm.us), U.S. Forest Service, and 5 churches.

The Cuba area is a diverse community in a tri-cultural setting (Native American, Hispanic, Anglo) of northern New Mexico. The school community includes the Cuba, Torreon, LaJara, Counselor, Ojo Encino, Pueblo Pintado, and Regina areas.  Unemployment is high in the community contributing to a high incidence of drug and alcohol related problems.

The financial package offered for the Pastoral position would include the use of the 3 bedroom, 2 bath parsonage located next to the church.

We are actively praying for the person God has in mind for FBC-Cuba.
