The Senior Pastor must meet the qualifications of a pastor as set forth in 1 Timothy 3:1-7. He must have a vision with eyes set on a prize beyond earthly reward, and must not be subject to political sway, bullying, or intimidation. He must be a man of high
integrity, morality, and honesty who persistently demonstrates kindness, purity, thoughtfulness, and bravery while holding to a complete reliance on God.
The Senior Pastor should have a Master’s degree in a theological area of study from an accredited conservative evangelical theological seminary, college, or university and be an ordained Southern Baptist minister with minimum of five years of pastoral experience
(associate pastor, etc.). He must subscribe to the AD 2000 Baptist Faith and Message
of the Southern Baptist Convention.
The Senior Pastor should have good biblical exegetical skills gained through seminary training and through the inspiration and guidance of the Holy Spirit. His theological and spiritual formation should be well developed so that misinterpretation of the
Scripture, which could lead to heresy, is avoided.
