Job Description:

Shelbyville Community Church is a nondenominational church in Shelbyville, IN, a town of 18,000 between Indianapolis and Cincinnati. We are searching for a Pastor of Children’s Ministry to lead our children’s and family ministries.

Our congregation is comprised of people from all backgrounds and faith stories. The children’s ministry is incredibly healthy and growing, has a dedicated volunteer staff, and is considered one of the strong points of our church's ministries. The ministry averages 100 students a week, involved in two Sunday morning services. Our volunteer team has 40+ leaders involved monthly in various roles. The church currently runs 700 on Sundays, and we are preparing to enter another season of outreach and growth. We are beginning initial planning for our first multi-site campus as well.

We are looking for someone to lead our team, and work with our families. We follow the Orange philosophy church wide, and are a Sticky Faith cohort church with Fuller Seminary.

The person we are looking for needs

  • to understand the value of family ministry
  • champion inter-generational ministry
  • be creative and an innovator willing to try new ideas
  • be a strong leader
  • want to work in a team environment
  • have a heart for developing new leaders and ministries
  • candidates need a degree in ministry (or working on completion of a degree)

They will work with a strong staff team at the church, and we believe the opportunities in the coming years are amazing. We are looking for a pastor to continue to develop our current ministry, as well as partner with our student minister and staff leadership to innovate new methods or serving families and helping parents be the spiritual heroes with their children. There are multiple ways for this pastor to serve and use their talents beyond the traditional children’s pastor roles. If you have a heart for reaching families in a new way, please contact us.

Your contact is Jason Chenoweth, the Executive Pastor.
