Full-time Director of Children Ministries

First United Methodist Church ( located in downtown Odessa, Texas, is searching for a full-time Director of Children Ministries.  This friendly church has experienced significant growth in young families over recent years.  First United Methodist is blessed to have a healthy staff that is very invested in helping the church be community and servant-oriented.  With a weekly worship attendance in the three hundreds, the children’s ministry has active weekly programming with volunteer support including “non-parents” as well as parents.  The congregation is excited and serious about teaching children from infancy through 5th grade to love Jesus.??The Director of Children Ministries will assist in fulfilling the mission and vision of First United Methodist Church by partnering with a team of leaders to develop relationships and build programs that support the intentional spiritual growth of children and families.  The primary responsibilities will include the following:  providing innovative and executive leadership in the development and implementation of all aspects of children’s ministry programming; equipping families, leaders, and volunteers to serve in ministry; and, developing relationships that lead to a team ministering to each child.??The successful candidate will have a minimum of two years of experience in leading a children’s program and a passion for serving children and their families.  A Bachelor’s Degree is needed. The candidate should have the ability to serve as a spiritual role model, lead a team, and be a team member.  The candidate must have the ability to use technology to teach, communicate and inspire children with new and different ways of learning about God and the church. Finally, the candidate should be in alignment with the beliefs and practices of the United Methodist tradition and theology.
