Job Description:

Vanderbloemen Search Group is thrilled to announce the Worship Arts Pastor search for returning client Montgomery Community Church. Vanderbloemen conducted Montgomery's Lead Pastor search last year. Under the new Lead Pastor, Phil Posthuma, Montgomery is experiencing a new chapter of growth and development.

Montgomery Community Church has a rich history of welcoming people of all ages and backgrounds. Founded in 1942 as Roselawn Baptist Church, the church relocated in 1980 to its current suburban site where it has continued to prosper. MCC is situated at a prime location on a 13-acre campus in an affluent area; over 35,000 cars pass by daily. Approximately 50,000 people live within a 3-mile radius of the church.  Almost 80% of the community consists of married couples with children and the average age is 38.

There are three main buildings on the 13-acre campus. Church attendees enter the main church building through a spacious, newly renovated lobby.  A coffee bar and inviting fireplace room lead to an 800-seat worship venue.  An additional 150 people can be seated in a secondary worship area known as The Gallery.  The children’s ministry area has first class decor with classrooms for various ages and a large group meeting auditorium.  Weekdays, the children’s area is utilized by a “Step Up To Quality” award-winning 165 student preschool, which has been operated for many years by MCC.

Adjacent to the main building and opening in June 2013 is a striking 23,000 square foot junior and senior high student center.  It contains a regulation basketball court, offices, meeting rooms, cafe, and a 250-seat worship area.  Funding for this building was raised through a capital campaign and reflects the intense desire to reach and equip a new generation of Christ followers.  A third building on the campus contains offices for most of the administrative staff.  MCC has great facilities and a strong financial position.

At Montgomery Community Church there is a strong focus on mission:  “Engaging people to live and serve like Jesus”.  The vision of MCC is that every person in Greater Cincinnati has the opportunity to experience the transforming reality of Jesus Christ and engage in missional living in their community and the world.

Montgomery Community Church is looking for a dynamic Worship Arts Pastor with strong vocal and instrumental abilities.  The successful candidate will have experience leading a band and vocal teams, creating meaningful worship experiences, with a high level of excellence, and a devoted heart for ministry.

This person must be able to work in a team environment to create, evaluate, and refine the weekend worship experiences, as well as occasional special events.  The successful candidate will be able to recruit, train, and empower both staff and volunteers in the Worship Arts ministry area of MCC.  The Worship Arts Pastor of MCC will lead the congregation to experience the presence and power of God, and encourage them to “live and serve like Jesus.”

The successful candidate will have five years of worship leadership in a variety of worship styles.  This person will possess strong vocal skills, advanced skills on guitar or keyboard, and a knowledge of music theory.  Additional creative gifts in songwriting and arranging would be highly desired.  A working knowledge of all areas of live production (audio, lighting, staging, video, etc.) would be important. The Worship Arts Pastor will most likely have a bachelor’s degree with a major in worship, music, theology, or a related field, and a graduate degree is a bonus.
