POSITION: Director of Ministries
STATUS: Part time or Full-time, Salaried or hourly.
HOURS: 15-40 Hours per week
BENEFITS: Paid vacation.
GENERAL PURPOSE OF POSITION: To build disciples for Christ by developing and implementing a comprehensive approach to ministry (in the areas of group building, worship, discipleship, mission, and outreach) while serving as a spiritual leader
and role model.
COMMENT ON THE POSITION: All interested applicants encouraged to apply as position will not be awarded based solely upon highest qualifications but a combination of multiple factors and spiritual direction of the development team and Senior
SUPERVISION: Reports directly to the Senior Pastor while simultaneously operating with considerable independence within areas of responsibility (described below).The Director of Ministries will be provided authority over various ministries
while remaining subject to Journey Church policy, theology and vision of the Senior Pastor.
Organizational Relationship and Ministry Supervision:
The Director of Ministries reports to the Senior Pastor in the following areas including but not limited to spiritual direction, strategic guidance, and ministry development.
Works with other ministry leaders to ensure they receive appropriate development and training, provides necessary support to leaders so that they can foster and nurture their volunteers, connects leaders throughout the church.
Directs other ministries and volunteers dedicated to serving the various needs of the church while helping coordinate and facilitate the multiple functions of each activity.
Provides spiritual leadership and development training for volunteers. Promote ministry opportunities and direct multiple campaigns to encourage ministry involvement and placement.
Assumes responsibility of administrative duties such as directing tasks and actions for the various ministries.
Responsible for organizing and managing documentation for external programs, volunteers, and coordination between the various ministries.
At the direction of the Senior Pastor, could be asked to provide spiritual counseling to Church members including but not limited to; marriage, family and etc.
Networks with community and local churches to develop partnerships within the ministries.
The Director of Ministries will be responsible and subject to Journey Church’s policy and employee handbook.
Qualifications and Aptitudes:
Must embrace Christian discipline inside Journey Church’s policy’s and theology.
Experience working in a non-denominational Christian church as a spiritual/ministries leader is highly desired.
Must show vision and high levels of initiative demonstrating ability to plan, develop, coordinate, manage and implement ministry.
A proven ability to effectually use written and verbal communication skills including but not limited to relationship management and conflict resolution.
Possess the ability to work effectively with congregation, diverse individuals, and teams of volunteers.
Demonstrates an evangelistic spirit with strong desire to see people enriched through ministry and evangelism.
Ability to operate with generic computer skills, such as Microsoft office
Some counseling education and/or experience preferred.
