The story of Carlisle BIC stands as a powerful illustration of God’s faithfulness, provision, and grace. For over 100 years, God has taken our story and transformed it into a way of telling His story. We long to create a safe place where our friends, neighbors,
and co-workers who have been distanced from the church can connect with God and his people. We are striving to be authentic and culturally relevant followers of Christ: local, particular to a place, situated within its culture.
We are a part of the Brethren in Christ, an Anabaptist denomination. The thrust of Anabaptist theology is that we attempt to take Jesus seriously by endeavoring to live out his radical, counter-cultural teachings as set forth in Scripture, and especially
embrace the lifestyle prescribed in the Sermon on the Mount.
Carlisle BIC has seen significant growth in the last 10 years and now reaches nearly 1,600 adults, children, and youth each Sunday. We currently have 4 Sunday gathering times meeting in 2 venues with 3 distinctive styles of worship. Our sermons are live
in one venue and video-simulcast into another. Rather than growing in one location and building bigger buildings, Carlisle BIC aims to reach the unchurched in multiple locations.
In March of 2014 we welcomed a new Senior Pastor and are currently in the process of adding additional team members.
We are looking for an experienced Worship Pastor with spiritual maturity to lead and grow worship ministry for our contemporary service. The primary function of this role will include weekly leadership from the platform in our Auditorium, along
with rotating through and leading in other CBIC campuses/venues when applicable. The successful candidate will provide creative development and direction for services and should have proven experience building teams as well as pastoring and developing volunteers.
Our Auditorium gathering has a modern sound that incorporates a number of genres, from alternative to folk. Our worship team pulls music from bands such as Hillsong United, Bethel Live, The City Harmonic, Chris Tomlin, Elevation Worship, Jesus Culture, All
Sons and Daughters, etc. As we continue to define our sound, we are looking for a musician who can play electric guitar and resonates with bands such as U2, Mumford & Sons, Coldplay, Imagine Dragons, and The Civil Wars. The ability to play keyboards, work
with loops, or arrange music would be helpful, but not required.
Carlisle is one of Pennsylvania’s most treasured historic communities. Located in picturesque south-central Pennsylvania, Carlisle’s history is rich. Strolling through historic downtown, one is greeted by unique architecture, quaint shops, and award-winning
restaurants. Our community is flavored by the presence of Dickinson College, Dickinson School of Law of Penn State University and the U.S. Army War College known throughout the United States and abroad for their respective curriculum.
Carlisle’s cultural environment is a diverse mix typified by its downtown theater, historic sites, and multi-cultural events. Our location within the Cumberland Valley provides numerous recreational opportunities: biking, hiking, kayaking, hunting/fishing,
boating, and snow skiing. We are a 2 to 3 hour drive from some of the largest cities in the U.S. — New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington, D.C., and Pittsburgh. In 2010 Forbes named the Carlisle/Harrisburg area as the second best place to raise a family
in the United States.
