The story of Park Community Church (Park) stands as a powerful illustration of God’s faithfulness, provision, and grace. For over 25 years, the Lord has taken their story and transformed it into a way of telling His story. Park Community Church believes that as part of seeing the city renewed, God has called Park to see 1% of the city of Chicago (27,000 people) connected into Biblical community at Park. In addition, Park Community Church also believes that God has called them to work together with the Chicago Partnership for Church Planting (CPCP) and other strategic partners to see at least one vibrant, Gospel-centered church in every one of Chicago's 277 micro-neighborhoods. Park Community Church is intentional about reaching Chicago for Jesus.    


The Opportunity
A crucial role on our Core (central services) Team has become available. The Director of Communications oversees the communications strategy of Park Community Church under the leadership of the Director of Operations. This will require a firm grasp of the beliefs, values and strategy of Park and the ability to align staff and key leadership teams with its mission, vision and values. The Communications Director will lead all components of communications and marketing to add inspiration, motivation and clarity to church messages. This position will be responsible for providing leadership to the communications team by leading and mentoring existing communications staff and volunteers. 

 

The Director of Communications is responsible for creating an environment that provides two-way communication between the congregation and church leadership by removing barriers that keep people from connecting, becoming a student of the changing audience at Park and by uncovering audience needs and communicating next steps to help them meet them. In addition to leading the overall communications strategy for Park this person will work to create seamless messages that produce simple ways to connect with the mission of Park, act as a strategic advisor to the Lead Team and will be responsible for content and editing of all communications for ensuring a consistent experience across multiple touch points.

 

The successful candidate will be able to thrive in a large multi-cultural, multi-campus, and diverse church culture where relationships, authenticity, integrity, and loyalty are critical. A proven ability to lead with strong teamwork and project management skills is imperative. In addition to effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills a successful candidate will be able to manage time effective and balance and prioritize a heavy workload. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of working in a setting committed to reaching the unreached, working within an urban community, and creativity through team collaboration. The ideal candidate will hold a bachelor’s level communication or marketing degree from an accredited college or university (a master’s degree if preferred).
