Job Description:

The South Central District of the Florida Conference of The United Methodist Church is seeking a part time Transitional Specialist to provide assistance to churches with special transitional needs.  The successful candidate will use the existing assessment model to collect and maintain data to identify churches with transitional needs.  Specific requirements include maintaining and implementing an ongoing district action plan based on assessments and to facilitate the Local Church Potential paragraph 213 assessment process.  In addition, the selected applicant will work to recruit and train qualified lay and clergy as needed to administer the Assessment of Local Church Potential and lead the Transitional Church Team.


The successful candidate will have an in-depth understanding of the United Methodist Church polity, strong working knowledge of the United Methodist Book of Discipline and understand the dynamics of churches in transition.  Applicants must work well with people individually and in small groups and have the ability to guide, train and make difficult judgements during the church assessment process.
