GCC ROANOKE SEEKS YOUTH LEADER
GCC Roanoke seeks a self-motivated, dynamic, and anointed youth leader who has a love for Jesus and a heart for youth.
A GROWING & AUTHENTIC COMMUNITY
We are a growing, multi-ethnic, non-denominational, authentic community situated on 25 acres of land inside the city of Roanoke, Virginia. We were founded more than three decades ago and our current lead pastor has been serving since 2002.
We have one contemporary worship service each Sunday from 10:15am-12 noon, but may soon consider a second service. Our middle and high school youth groups meet once per week on Friday evenings and also serves in the community at least one Saturday per month.
We are a values-driven church. To find out more about our values, vision, and team, visit www.gccroanoke.com. While there, listen to a few sermons by Pastor Jeff and Pastor Chris and also check out our social media sites.
At GCC, we coach, activate, and send people to advance God’s Kingdom on earth. We value a passionate and Spirit-filled expression of worship. GCC Roanoke is a safe place for wounded people and a highly creative and forward-moving place for emerging leaders.
We are certainly not a museum for the churchy or religious.
AN AMAZING YOUTH EXPERIENCE
The primary responsibilities of this position include mentoring, leading, coaching, and discipling our high school students and further developing the ministry to this age group. At present, we have approximately 20-25 students in our high school group and
5-10 students in our middle high group. The middle school group is currently led by a volunteer, but the groups have historically collaborated on many activities, such as summer camp. We’re looking for someone to grow these ministries and create an amazing
youth experience at GCC.
Additionally, we’re looking for someone with Biblical knowledge and theological discernment, previous youth ministry experience, strength in leadership, and ministerial influence. Excellent communication skills, administrative abilities, and motivation to
work autonomously are required. We do not coddle or micro-manage. Also important is the ability to recruit and coach other youth ministry leaders and volunteers.
The youth leader reports to and receives mentoring, coaching, and support from the lead pastor of GCC Roanoke.
A FREE 3-BEDROOM APARTMENT
This position requires a minimum of 12 hours of work per week in exchange for free housing (single or married couple) in a recently refurbished 3-bedroom basement apartment in a house on our 25-acre campus. This leaves more than enough time for other employment
and/or college enrollment. At this time, housing and utilities are the only compensation for this position.
This position requires leading youth ministry at least one evening per week and at least a once per month community service project. It also requires weekly meetings with church leadership. We are firm believers in a weekly sabbath (day of rest) and offer
up to three weeks vacation per year.
A RESUME & COVER LETTER
Please send a well-executed cover letter communicating your interest and a resume detailing your experience and education to firstname.lastname@example.org. Include links to any portfolio material (e.g. videos, samples of previous work) you’d like us to consider
and three references that can speak your qualifications for this position.
