Willow Creek Community Church is a non-denominational, multi-generational, diverse church community with six locations throughout the Chicagoland area. It was founded by current Senior Pastor Bill Hybels in 1975. God has taken Willow on quite a ride throughout the past 35-plus years. Bill, the Elders, and leaders of Willow Creek have never lost sight of that original vision of becoming an Acts 2 church. While much has changed over the years, key themes—taken straight from the Acts 2 passage that gripped Bill’s heart in the early years—have transcended individual leaders, ministries, and eras. The church’s mission, to turn irreligious people into fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ, remains its singular passion.

Today, more than 25,000 people worship at Willow Creek’s six regional campuses each weekend. Churches from around the world watch what God is up to at Willow, and find encouragement and equipping for their own ministries. Willow Creek remains, above all else, a local church of Christ followers—a place where people matter to God, where together they seek to live out God’s vision of being an Acts 2 church.  Willow Creek is intentional with balancing missional and attractional expressions of ministry – helping believers grow deeper in their faith walk and providing a welcoming environment for those simply exploring faith.

As the chief communications strategist, the Marketing and Communications Director will lead and provide strategic oversight for church-wide marketing and communications.  This position will oversee the marketing and communication of the church’s brand and message through various media to ensure accurate, creative, and consistent tone, look, voice, and delivery. Formal education is not a predetermining factor for the selection of the new Marketing and Communications Director. However, it is likely that they will hold a bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or related fields from an accredited college or university. An advanced degree in Marketing and/or Communications is preferred but not required. The successful candidate will have a proven track record and experience in marketing, advertising, internal/external communication, media, and public relations, whether within a business, church, non-profit, or other setting. Proven experience in team-building, creative thinking, systems management, and problem solving is required. Exceptional technical skills in written and oral communication, graphic design, web and multimedia including experience with the most current software tools available in the marketplace will be needed in this role.

Willow Creek Community Church has campuses throughout Chicagoland (Chicago metropolitan area), which has a population of more than 9.8 million people. The Chicagoland area is dynamic and diverse—and readily celebrates the varied cultural backgrounds of the people. A great Chicagoland transit system makes it possible to hop on a train in the suburbs and travel to the heart of the city of Chicago any day of the week. The city is home to major league sports teams, museums, great restaurants, and beautiful Lake Michigan.
