Job Description:

Sycamore Creek Church is seeking an Associate Pastor to serve as the right hand to the Lead Pastor and assist in carrying out the church’s strategic plan and vision.  Sycamore Creek is a vibrant, growing church in the Columbus, Ohio suburb of Pickerington.  This is a newly created position developed to intentionally ensure that SCC maintains and exceeds its’ current level of momentum and growth.


Ministry Responsibilities

  • Oversee the small group ministry
  • Evaluate, create and improve systems for assimilation, discipleship, and retention
  • Create and develop discipleship classes and opportunities
  • Oversee pastoral care and assist in pastoral counseling
  • Develop the ministry infrastructure to support long-term health and growth
  • Provide resources and direction to church staff and ministry volunteers as they carry out ministry goals
  • Oversee other staff members as assigned by lead pastor
  • Provide leadership in future building expansion and growth campaigns
  • Conduct new member interviews
  • Other leadership responsibilities as determined by the Lead Pastor


Talents & Traits Required

  • Outgoing, servant-hearted, people person
  • Ministry experience and the ability to teach
  • Able to serve in a support role to lead pastor
  • Able to lead other staff members and volunteers
  • General biblical counseling ability
  • Strong administrative and computer skills


Other Administrative Responsibilities

  • Daily checking and returning of emails and voicemails
  • Assist with miscellaneous administrative tasks as needed


Other Ministry Expectations & Job Information

  • Attend weekly staff meetings as well as other leadership team meetings
  • Lead a small group within the church
  • Participate in all church wide events or activities
  • Spousal support and involvement in the church
  • Actively promote the church in the community
  • This position is hired by the Lead Pastor and reports directly to the Lead Pastor.
  • Job demands 40+ hours per week with one day off during the week
  • Education required is a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree
  • Salary Range is $50,000-$55,000
