Located in Gwinnett County, Georgia within a short drive of Atlanta and all that it has to offer, Cannon Church is a 3,500 member congregation whose vision is to “Bring about life change in children, youth, and families through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.” We are committed to building bridges to our local community and providing Worship experiences and Christian education that are relevant to today’s society. We are led by a young, dynamic pastor couple whose commitment is to building up the body of Christ through multi-generational relationships.


To assist in this effort, we have an opportunity for a Minister to Children and Families to join our team. If you are a God-loving, creative, ministry-focused educator with the following qualifications, we invite you to consider this opportunity:

  • A commitment to Jesus Christ and an understanding of and commitment to Wesleyan theology
  • Knowledge of child development theory and the ability to apply it to a Christian environment
  • Ability to make the weekend children’s services engaging and exciting
  • Basic understanding of faith development in children
  • A degree in early childhood education, Christian education, or equivalent educational experience
  • Ability to recruit, train, retain, and motivate teams of volunteers for the implementation of ministry
  • Familiarity with and a working knowledge of the Orange Conference O Zone children’s curriculum
  • Rapport with children and families; must be a strong and relational leader - of both adults and children
  • Ability to motivate children through the use of creative programs and to create an atmosphere of learning that children want to be a part of
  • Attention to detail with a “big picture” vision
  • Organizational, delegation, communication, and administrative skills
  • Computer competency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and email in particular) and ability to learn new technologies as needed
  • Experience working with children, either professionally or through volunteering
  • Excellent work ethic; a self-starter who can work independently and with others while serving as a team member on a large multi-discipline staff


  • The Minister to Children and Families has supervisory responsibility for the Nursery Supervisor, Preschool Ministry Coordinator, and Children’s Ministry Assistant, and is supported by an Administrative Assistant
  • Children’s Sunday Worship, Wednesday Evening Children’s Programs, Seasonal Programs such as Vacation Bible Schools, Easter Egg Hunt, and leadership of Children’s Ministry Council are among the responsibilities of this position
  • The Minister to Children and Families provides innovative, executive leadership in the development and implementation of all aspects of children’s ministry programming, serving children from birth to fifth grade, as well as their families. Serves in an advisory/support role to the Cannon Church Weekday Preschool Ministry and MOPS
  • Equips families, leaders, and volunteers with the resources needed to instill a Christ-centered faith in children
  • Serves on the church staff leadership team

 This opportunity is a full-time 40 hours per week position with employee benefits including, but not limited to 401(k) match and healthcare. It requires on-campus presence on Sundays and Wednesdays. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience.
