Job Description:

The Slingshot Group is partnering with Covenant Community Church in search of a Worship Arts Pastor to join the team.

Community Covenant Church was launched in 1971.  From the beginning the church had a heart to be relevant and led by God’s Spirit.  They were missional before missional was popular, and continue to have a Kingdom impact today.

Community Covenant Church currently averages over 600 in attendance.  They meet on a 17 acre campus, and are engaged in a large campus expansion project to facilitate greater ministry and growth.  The project will double the size of the campus for 1200 people over two services on a Sunday morning.

Sunday’s are contemporary and seek to spiritually connect with several age groups.  The preaching is application driven and the theology is a narrative/covenant approach.  Volunteerism is a high value with 75% of the congregation engaged in some form of ministry.

The church enjoys a good reputation in the community from its strong ministry presence helping many in the community as it seeks to demonstrate the gospel.  They are involved with many local expressions of serving that extend beyond its walls.  This would include major works with the Rhode Island State Women’s Prison, and a strong partnership with a local elementary school where 93% of all students are on food assistance.  In addition, support is being offered both materialistically and instructionally to help overcome the injustice of inequality within the community.

Community Covenant had a massive hand in helping Haiti after the 2010 earthquake.  God is using the church to use some very creative solutions to help impact the nation through training leaders, training teachers and creating jobs.  The Holy Spirit has given them favor with the nation to the point of heavy partnerships with the Clinton Foundation, elite leaders within Haiti, multinational corporations, and other organizations.

Community Covenant is located in Rehoboth, Massachusetts, which is near the Massachusetts/Rhode Island border.  As part of the greater Boston region, you have unlimited options at your fingertips including sports, music, universities and historical sites.  Amazing Seafood and other world class restaurants are available.  The New England region provides breathtaking scenery and outdoor activities ranging from the Atlantic Ocean to skiing in the New Hampshire Mountains.  Massachusetts boasts excellent school options for children.

Community Covenant looks to engage in contemporary/modern musical worship, while using creative and artistic experiences in the service to help people emotionally connect to the overarching theme and focus of the service.  There is a strong bias in the church that says many things are better explained artistically than purely rationally.  As a result the Worship Arts Leader is a close associate to the Senior Pastor and will work to help design ministry experiences and expressions in services.

Dennis Baril has been the Senior Pastor for 25 years.  He came from a successful business background with AT&T.  Dennis is a futurist and a strategic thinker.  He has the ability to look beneath the surface when asking questions for creative problem solving.  Dennis has been a consultant to Purpose Driven Ministries, has spoken at WCA events and is highly involved in local and global missional endeavors.

Community Covenant sits in the heart of one of the most de-churched demographics in the nation.  This truly is a mission field endeavor with the opportunity to see lives changed for eternity.

This will not be a job of playing worship music to cater to the Christian bubble.  The right person for this position must have a heart to reach the lost.  This person will play a critical role in leading the weekend services to a new level of making an eternal impact in this region.

If you sense that this position would be a good fit for you, or would like more information, please email with a copy of your resume, including video/audio worship leading demos.
