DIRECTOR OF CHORAL AND INSTRUMENTAL MINISTRIES

PURPOSE:  To serve the Worship Arts ministry of King Street Church with a primary emphasis on providing leadership in the planning and implementation of God honoring choral and instrumental ministries within the traditional and blended worship services.


  • Provide overall music leadership and coordination (in conjunction with the Senior Pastor) for the traditional worship service
  • Serve as worship leader in the 8:15 traditional service
  • Identify, develop, and shepherd volunteers in using their gifts in worship
  •  Recruit, oversee and coordinate other vocal and instrumental music ministries such as orchestra, bells, children’s choir, and horns
  • Recruit, develop and direct the adult choir for traditional and blended services
  • In cooperation with the Director of Contemporary Worship, coordinate the blended service and special musical/dramatic events such as Ash Wednesday, Easter and Christmas services and programs
  • Administrate music purchases, equipment purchases, and licensing agreements for the traditional service, choral and instrumental groups
  • Work in cooperation with the Senior Pastor, Organist, Director of Contemporary and Blended Worship, Media and Production Coordinator, and administrative staff in all aspects of preparing and providing a meaningful, God-honoring worship service for traditional and blended services
  • Serve as a substitute worship leader for other services as needed
  • Serve as a non-voting member of the Worship Arts Commission


  • Demonstrate a love for Christ and a desire to continue a deep personal walk with Him
  • Undergraduate degree preferred. Preference given to education in choral and instrumental ministries or equivalent experience
  • Gifted in leading people in worship that honors Christ
  • Excellent vocal and worship leadership skills
  • Possess strong musical leadership abilities
  • Experience in developing and leading choral and instrumental groups
  • Exhibited strengths in the areas of communication, teamwork, and creativity
  • An appreciation of and support for the diversity of worship traditions of King Street Church
  • Minimum of three years experience in choral and instrumental ministries



This position will report to the Executive Pastor. Individual will be an ex-officio member of the Worship Arts Commission.
