In April of 2010, a group of Atlanta-based businessmen set out to dig wells in Uganda and found much more than they bargained for. They found kids in prison. Why? In Uganda, these prisons hold homeless children and orphans, ages one through eighteen. The conditions are deplorable. The goal is two-fold: to provide immediate relief through food, clean water, medical care, clothing, and bedding; and to work with the facilities to improve them. SixtyFeet also works to build relationships with the children to provide loving friendship and mentorship, tell them about the hope of Jesus, promote justice so the children can receive fair and prompt hearings, and train local Ugandans to take responsibility for their own care and future.

The in-country Operations Director will manage the day-to-day activities of the Uganda office and staff. They are responsible for maintaining the vision and mission of SixtyFeet through the coordination of strategic partnerships, including the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development, the Anglican Church of Uganda, Gateway Bible Church, Palmetto Clinic, MAP, and others as deemed necessary and beneficial.

The Operations Director is responsible for ensuring that good relations are maintained with appropriate government entities through the execution of agreements. They are also responsible for maintaining business functions of CJI (Children Justice Initiative, the Uganda business entity) according to the laws of Uganda governing foreign NGOs. Additionally, the Operations Director will need to successfully foster good relationships among the staff. The ability to navigate through cultural differences while promoting healthy team relationships within the workplace is a must.

The Operations Director should be well acquainted with all of the local activities and be able to speak on behalf of the organization as needed at various functions, conferences, NGO gatherings, and government meetings. They will also be expected to provide weekly follow-up with the US Board through the President. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree at minimum, and knowledge or experience in law or medicine is beneficial.
