Job Description:

The Digital Media Specialist is responsible for the church’s digital presence. Duties include oversight, strategy and execution of our website and social media channels. The specialist will provide relevant content daily on social media and weekly in an e-blast while tracking metrics and monitoring relevant conversations. Other duties include developing innovative media content across web, mobile and email platforms. The specialist also will produce reports and offer actionable recommendations that can maximize site rankings and increase our digital visibility.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide counsel to Communications Director in using social media to strengthen the ministry effectiveness of the church
  • Serve as content manager for the church’s online presence; coordinate web projects; pull and post appropriate content from various ministries
  • Copyedit and proofread all web content; maintain a consistent look and feel throughout all web properties
  • Create and maintain templates for email subscriptions
  • Create event registrations and forms using our forms engines
  • Work with the Communications Director to develop web and social media resources to supplement and enhance the digital presence of Christ
  • Community Church and the Senior Pastor
  • Monitor all conversations on the Christ Community Church and Senior Pastor’s social media platforms
  • Establish reporting systems for each platform
  • Keep current with emerging web technologies through relevant blogs, listservs, and events
  • Assist in design of user interface and user experience features
  • Assist in providing training/support of online platforms for admin assistants as needed
  • Assure web-based information is archived for future needs and reference
  • Work cooperatively with Communications team members and other staff

 OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES AS DIRECTED BY THE COMMUNICATIONS DIRECTOR AND/OR CONNECTIONS TEAM CAPTAIN

 

The Digital Media Specialist agrees to take on additional responsibilities as directed by the supervisor and as necessary for the continued development of the Communications Team of Christ Community Church. These responsibilities will most likely be added according to the gifts, passions, and talents of the employee, designed to address the growing and changing needs of the ministry team, and may be added at the initiative and discretion of the supervisor.

 

RELATIONSHIPS

  • Reports to, and interacts most significantly with the Communications Director
  • Works as a team member on the Connections/Communications Team
  • Interacts frequently with the Graphics Art & Media Specialists and Communications Specialist
  • Meets with other ministry leaders and team members to coordinate Digital Media projects
  • Submits to the Senior Pastor and Board of Elders of Christ Community Church
REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, advertising or business administration or equivalent relevant experience required
  • A solid understanding of the social media universe, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, and emerging channels
  • Proven track record of interactive project delivery and demonstrable knowledge of Internet technical protocols such as HTML, JavaScript, XML, web publishing and database structure
  • Experience managing web analytics applications (i.e., Google Analytics, etc.) is a plus
  • Strong interpersonal skills & the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse community
  • Detail-oriented; editing, writing, punctuation, and proofreading skills necessary
  • Key spiritual gifts of Creative Worship, Service, and Administration
  • Flexibility in scheduled work hours based upon special events and projects
  • Willingness to commit in membership to Christ Community Church within the first 12 months of employment
  • Willingness and ability to comply with and support all policies, procedures, standards, and statements outlined in the Employee Handbook, position papers, and other governing documents created for Christ Community Church
  • A growing, committed follower of Jesus Christ. (1 Tim 3:1-7; Titus 1:6-9)
