Job Description:

ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT.  First United Methodist Church of Clearwater Florida is seeking applicants for this full time (approximately 40 hour) position.  The AA maintains all financial and membership records, prepares reports as required and supervises office and building maintenance staff.  Applicant must have a love for Jesus Christ and be a practicing Christian.  Knowledge of the United Methodist Church is preferred.  High School diploma is required;  college credits in business is preferred.  Applicant must be proficient in using Microsoft Office and computer accounting software and have experience in bookkeeping.  Resumes are accepted immediately.  Salary is between $32,000 and $35,000 commensurate with qualifications.  Job Description is attached.  Send resume to

POSITION:                           Administrative Assistant


DEPARTMENT:                  Business Office


REPORTS TO:                      Senior Pastor


JOB SUMMARY:               Maintains all financial and membership records for the church and prepares reports as required, manages human resource data , manages building and maintenance staff,  attends specified committee meetings, and performs other administrative tasks as needed.



  1.  High school diploma required; college credits in business (finance and accounting) preferred
  2. Computer skills and abilities
  3. Previous office experience in bookkeeping



  1. Must have a love for Jesus Christ and be a practicing Christian; knowledge of the United Methodist local church preferred
  2. Ability to communicate clearly, positively, and effectively
  3. Strong  math and writing skills
  4. Familiarity with Excel ,Word, an accounting software

  10. Ability to make and maintain warm and professional relationships with staff and membership






  1. 1.       Financial
  • Maintains all accounts payable and makes payments in a timely fashion
  • Reconciles all bank accounts
  • Enters all contributions into the accounting system
  • Prepares balance sheet and financial reports as needed
  • Prepares employee and pastor payrolls
  • Reconciles payroll reports upon receipt from leasing company
  • Maintains petty cash records
  • Performs back-up of data as required by office protocols
  • Attends Finance, Trustees, and Church Council meetings
  • Keeps account records for FUMC Preschool; send out billing and collect fees




  1. 2.       Membership
  • Keeps church membership records updated
  • Distributes attendance reports as needed


  1. 3.       Human Resources
  • Maintains all employee information forms; updates as needed
  • Documents  vacation, personal, and sick time for all employees
  • Works together with employee leasing company (PEO) to maintain accuracy of employee information and payroll
  • Supervises receptionist and maintenance staff
  • Schedules staff to provide coverage needed for operational efficiency


  1. 4.       Additional Administrative Responsibilities
  • Reviews and distributes incoming mail and correspondence
  • Prepares correspondence and other documents as needed by Senior Pastor
  • Orders and maintains inventory of office supplies; works with vendors as needed
  • Provides support with publications as needed (proof reading bulletins, newsletter, etc.)
  • Maintains and submits all district and conference forms as required
