  • Responsible for ministry to all kids (birth-6th grade) within Christ Church and beyond:
  • Develop age appropriate ministries to reach all the kids in the church.
  • Select curriculum and implement Christ-centered resources for Kids Ministries.
  • Ensure that the opportunities for spiritual growth and building relationships are safe, fun, active, interactive, memorable, God-honoring, character-building and visitor-friendly.
  • Equip, recruit, train, and lead adult volunteers to facilitate programming and assist in reaching kids for Christ.
  • Develop and promote vital small group experience within the kids program
  • Coordinate and/or lead programming for Sunday Worship in the following areas:
  • Nursery
  • Discovery (preschool programming)
  • Kid City (elementary programming)
  • Charge56 (tween programming)
  • Coordinate and/or lead programming for Wednesday night kids classes to include:
  • Nursery
  • Launch Station (preschool)
  • Rocket Station (lower elementary)
  • Explore Station (upper elementary)
      • Research and assess the desires, needs and problems that confront kids in the local area and establish an effective ministry structure to meet such needs.
      • Ensure that all volunteers comply with the Child Protection Policy, including: screening, background checks, safety training, etc.


  • Develop opportunities to serve.
  • Plan, schedule and coordinate mission trips, retreats, activities, outings, and other fitting events
  • Create and implement a cohesive plan for service and mission in the local community, nation and world
    • Communicate the overall vision, goals and strategy of the Kids Ministries to the parents and church.
      • Partner with parents to help them realize God's dream for their kids with the goal to produce kids who are learning to trust Jesus as their Savior and friend
      • Serve as the liaison with people, organizations and resources both within and outside the church that relate to kids.
      • Partner with other ministry departments to help build synergy in promoting, marketing, and communication for Kids programming
    • Establish personal and supportive relationships with parents and kids
    • Organize coverage when absence is required.
    • Assist the Senior Pastor in the implementation of the vision and goals for the ministry of Christ Church.


  • Administrative Requirements:
    • Prepare quarterly reports describing the status of Christ Church’s Kids Ministries for the Church Council meetings and the Annual Charge Conference (held in the fall).
    • Prepare an annual budget for Kids Ministries, to be approved by the Church Council
    • Attend monthly department meetings, weekly staff meetings, and weekly supervisory meetings
    • All other duties as assigned by the Director of Family Ministries


  • Personal Expectations:
    • Maintain active and open communication with the staff.
    • Report weekly to supervisor and/or designee for staff meetings.
    • Seek to be renewed and refocused by attending leadership development conferences, workshops and/or training seminars (continuing education funding available).
    • Must meet the minimum membership requirements by completing Membership Class 101 within one year of hire.
    • Adhere to the Christ Church Staff Statement of Ethics in the Employee Handbook and the Staff Covenant Core Values


  • Requisite Qualifications and Skills:
    • A personal experience of conversion and commitment to Jesus Christ as demonstrated through a vibrant and growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
    • A desire to lead Christ Church’s kids to accept Jesus and live a Christian life, along with an authentic love for, patience with, and good understanding of kids.
    • Ability to relate to and connect with kids of all age groups
    • Inspiring and engaging facilitation style
    • Bachelor’s degree
    • At least 3 years of professional experience leading a Kids ministry with an average attendance of 50 Kids per week.
    • Excellent computer, written and verbal communication skills with those associated with Kids Ministries
    • Maturity in emotional/spiritual judgment and demeanor in the conduct of duties.
    • Maintenance of the highest Christian standards in personal and professional life.
    • Compassionate, patient, outgoing and nurturing personality.
    • Organized, ability to practice confidentiality, be self-motivated and a team player.
