On April 15, 1955, a group of people gathered together with a common desire to plant a new church in the heart of the sparsely populated little village known as Colleyville, Texas. Boyce Evans, a circuit-ridin’ preacher and veteran of the Korean War, preached nightly services resulting in the formation of a band of believers now known as First Baptist Church Colleyville. Meeting first in homes and later in the original Colleyville schoolhouse, which is now the 5-acre site of the recreation fields, First Baptist Church Colleyville became a church family. One of the founding families felt strongly led to donate land to the church—a tract of land upon which the 1,000 seat Worship Center now sits. First Baptist Church Colleyville is a church on mission, with a sense of forward momentum as they look to the future.

First Baptist Church Colleyville places a high value on the next generation. The annual Vacation Bible School reaches over 900 students and leaders in the community. The Sonshine Academy weekday preschool now ministers to more than 220 kids and their families. In late 2012, the leadership and church family unanimously affirmed a plan to construct a large state of the art facility to house more than 450 kids from birth to 4th grade. This wonderful new addition will allow for fantastic ministry to kids with a creative worship space, central gathering places, spacious classrooms and playrooms, and a welcome center for kids and their families. The new facility is set to be completed fall of 2014.

The Children’s Pastor is responsible for the development, implementation, and administration of a comprehensive ministry for children, ages birth through 4th grade. The successful candidate will equip volunteers and parents to reach and disciple children to be vibrant followers of Christ who learn to walk with God, serve the church body, develop a Biblical worldview, and understand their personal mission in life. The ideal Children's Pastor will have at least five years of church staff experience with proven experience strategically planning and growing a Children's Ministry.

Colleyville is an affluent city and suburb of Fort Worth located in northeast Tarrant County, Texas. Recently named in Money Magazine as one of the “Best 100 Places to Live In America,” the city of Colleyville was named after a Civil War veteran, Dr. Lilburn Colley. Colleyville was incorporated in 1956 and has a current population of about 25,000.  It is conveniently located approximately five miles from DFW airport, and is part of the 6 million people of the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex. Colleyville is ideal for family-life. It has a small town feel with big city convenience. As part of the DFW mid-cities, Colleyville residents have access to professional sports teams, museums, parks, and an international airport. Sports fans will enjoy rooting for the Texas Rangers, Dallas Cowboys, Mavericks, and Stars. Artsy residents will enjoy the Dallas Museum of Art, Kimbell Art Museum, Amon Carter Museum of American Art, and the Bishop Arts District.
