Job Description:

 Worship Pastor

Ripon Community Church is an eleven year old, non-denominational church located in Ripon, Wisconsin.  While its town is small, the heart of this church is HUGE, and God is working through it in a BIG way to impact the community.  Highlights include a food pantry/thrift store that provides food for over 500 people each month, a vibrant growth groups ministry, terrific ministries for kids/youth, and - best of all - an exceptionally warm, friendly, accepting church family.  This is our greatest strength!  We have also baptized over 400 new believers and planted two daughter churches while watching God grow our weekly attendance to over 500 people per week.  God has led and blessed us immensely!

The people of Ripon and the town itself are exceptionally inviting and offer a great environment for families to thrive.  In addition, Ripon’s location provides access to some of Wisconsin’s best opportunities for fun!  Heading fifteen minutes west puts you in Green Lake, a beautiful vacation destination that offers fishing, swimming, boating, etc.  Twenty minutes north east puts you in Oshkosh for accessible shopping and one of the world’s premier air shows held every summer!  If you’re looking for some time in the city, within an hour and a half you have access to downtown Milwaukee, Madison, and Green Bay.  If you’re in need of a quick mini-vacation, Door County and Chicago are both within reasonable driving distance.

Now let’s talk music…

RCC has a long-standing reputation for quality music that strives to put God first.  We currently have around twenty-five volunteers and two worship interns who have great hearts and are extremely committed, hard working, and talented.  Volunteer experience at RCC ranges from entry level to intermediate to musicians who have experience playing in successful, local bands for years.  Overall, the talent level is high!  While a humble heart for God is the ministry’s primary strength, the teams are very disciplined and hard working.  Vocalists memorize lyrics and the band is accustomed to playing to a click and using in-ear monitors.  Our musicians are top notch, and we have dedicated sound technicians that know how to make them sound as good as they play.

We play a variety of music at RCC in order to achieve our primary goal, to help people engage in worship!  Worship sets range from Lincoln Brewster to Hillsong and everything in between.  We also get a bit outside-the-box now and again with our song selections in order to connect with those who are skeptical about church.  To name a few, our “outside-the-box” playlist has included “Happy” by Pharrell Williams, “Beautiful Day” by U2, and “Why Georgia” by John Mayer.  For many who are skeptical about church, we have found that songs like these help disarm the perception that the church is judgmental or disconnected from their world.  They help break down barriers and open people up to hearing about Jesus.

This job will require the right person to both lead and grow a dynamic ministry powered by experienced and faithful volunteers.  In addition, we have a fantastic and healthy staff.  So, having the right heart and being a flexible team player is exceptionally important as well!  Finally, while we take God very seriously, we are intentional to show that we do not take ourselves too seriously.  This intentionality creates an “outside-the-box” environment that the right person will need to be comfortable serving in.

For this position, we are looking for an individual who is faithful, fun, and gifted at leading contemporary worship.  A candidate who is proficient in, or has a growing knowledge of video, media, sound, lighting, etc. is preferred.  Additionally, whomever we hire will also be required to provide pastoral leadership and involvement throughout the ministries of the church as needed, gifted, and interested.  If the candidate is a gifted teacher, preaching a few times a year is also a possibility.  Ultimately, a humble heart and a willingness to learn and grow will be hugely important in fulfilling this role!

If you are interested in applying for this full-time position, please email a brief letter of interest, your resume, and a video of yourself leading worship to Pastor Mike Holba at:

Please do not apply through but directly to the church.
