Ministry Role Description
First Baptist is offering a tremendous opportunity for a Campus Pastor Candidate to serve on staff
of one of the most dynamic and fastest growing churches in America. FBC over the past 5 years
has experienced rapid growth; growing from 950 to over 3,300 people. Moving from being one
church to now one church that meets in two locations. FBC Northside is 9 months old from
launch and currently average 440 people on campus. We are located in the youngest city in
America, Jacksonville NC. Home to the largest Marine Corpe Bases on the East Coast, only 25
miles from the beautiful beaches and coastline of North Carolina.
We are looking for a full time campus pastor who will provide leadership, oversight and care for
our Northside Campus. He will be responsible to direct the leaders for each aspect of that site’s
organization at the direction of the Pastoral Leadership Team. He will lead the campus to carry
out the mission, vision and values of First Baptist Church through the congregation at that
location. The vision of FBC Jax is to “glorify God by loving all people into a growing relationship

Qualifications and Skills Required:
The Campus Pastor should have significant life and ministry experience. Preferably a minimum of
five years of full-time ministry experience or the equivalent work experience in a management or
leadership role with a track record of success in the following core competencies (skills):
• VISION - The CP must demonstrate strong commitment to the overall mission of First
Baptist Jacksonville as set by the Pastoral leadership team. He must be able to embody
and replicate the DNA of First Jax at the North Side Campus.
• LEADERSHIP - the ability to influence and direct groups and individuals in a positive
direction. Must be able to oversee multiple staff as well as maintain the campus’
• SHEPHERDING - caring for people’s needs personally and build a culture of care utilizing
the gifts of others.
• TEAM BUILDING - able to create, lead and empower others toward accomplishing the
win in their specific ministry environments.
• INITIATIVE - the ability to creatively use the resources at hand in accomplishing goals
established by the Pastoral Leadership Team.
• MISSIONAL/ EVANGELISTIC HEART - a burning passion and focus on the lost.
• DISCIPLING - the ability to grow others toward the likeness of Christ.
The responsibilities of the Campus Pastor will be carried out through a large team of paid and
unpaid personnel, as well as serve team ministries. As the Campus grows, the leadership
structure must grow with it, but these responsibilities remain core to the Campus Pastors calling.
FBC Northside is a fully functioning Church Campus with dynamic kids environments, Life
Groups, amazing live worship and video teaching from our Sr. Pastor Jason Brinker. As the
Campus size and leadership grows, the Campus Pastor must remain steadfast and consistent to
the core responsibilities as follows:
1. WEEKEND PRODUCTION - Everything from the street signs to the video sermon, Serve
Teams, FirstKids environments, worship, and production teams. It is the responsibility of the
CP to maintain excellence and to ensure the faithful transfer of First Baptist DNA in all areas of
a) Plans the weekend worship and weekly communication plan under the guidance of the
Lead Pastor so as to coordinate with the appropriate central staff support and campus
staff for all venues at his campus.
b) Serves as the “Face to the Place” each weekend. The CP will be the primary on stage
c) Assigns deacons and lay counselors to serve on prayer response teams for worship.
d) Connecting People: Ensuring that people know how to take their next steps by providing a
staffed connections table, worship guides with guest/connect cards, first time guest follow
up, clear pathways for Life Groups, Serve Teams, Baptisms, and Belong Membership
e) First Kids Worship Venues: The Campus Pastor oversees Venue leaders in the exercise of
f) Planning for Campus Growth with the appropriate central staff through an appropriate
combination of adding services and transitioning current facility.
2. LIFE GROUPS - Making sure the Life Group system and vision of FBJacksonville is
promoted and supported. Ensuring that there are sufficient and growing numbers of life
groups and people who are developing through the leadership pipeline of (Attenders -
Apprentices - Life group Leaders and Coaches) based on campus worship attendance and
a) Campus pastor must prioritize and promote Life group involvement throughout it’s
b) Lead and mentor new LG coaches and leaders.
c) Connect people to Life groups through the Connections process.
3. LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT - Oversee the campus staff and the leadership development
pipeline for the following areas of ministry:
a) Life Group Coaches -- LG Leaders -- Apprentices.
b) Serve Team Coaches -- ST Leaders -- Apprentices.
d) Campus Staff
e) Personal Development
f) Involving the Campus Leadership in the appropriate Leader Development Training of FBC
4. PASTORING THE PEOPLE
a) Be the FACE TO THE PLACE.
b) Personal Ministry: Counseling, weddings/funerals and the general care of the membership
of those belonging to the campus.
c) Coordinating with the FBC Counseling ministry.
d) Champion the Deacons and Life group leaders to be the primary vehicle in which
community care is accomplished.
5. MISSIONS PARTNERSHIPS
a) Connecting the Campus congregation and Life groups to local ministry partnerships
where the Gospel can bring life change.
b) Developing opportunities with a focus on the following five areas:
iv) Unwed/Single mothers
v) At risk teens.
c) Participate in all FBC Serve weeks.
d) Partner and support all new FBC Jacksonville campus launches.
6. PREACHING ASSIGNMENTS
a) Maintain and sharpen teaching skills. Always be ready to preach as assigned by the Lead
