Director of Music for Paramount Church

“The gospel tunes our heart to sing!”

(Paid, Part Time)

 

A. General Description of Position:

Responsible for the music of Paramount Church as well as other aspects related to

worship service (sound/video operations, etc...). Duties include planning music for worship

services in cooperation with the elders, particularly the Preaching and Teaching Elder. Recruit, direct, and shepherd a team of volunteers for music and technical support. Coordinate and lead weekly rehearsals.

 

B. Position Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement gospel-centered music (Col. 3:16) for Sunday worship services, and special services as required, in consultation with the Elders
  • Recruit, train, and rehearse members of the music team. Hold tryouts for potential band members/vocalists on a regular basis in order to produce an equally excellent backup for every position
  • Disciple music team members in a gospel-centered paradigm
  • Attend at least one approved conference or workshop annually
  • Coordinate with A/V team regularly to assure quality sound and video/visuals for each presentation and oversee training of A/V staff and volunteers
  • Attend weekly and called staff meetings with required reports delivered timely.
  • Attend weekly leadership and/or personal mentoring sessions with Elders (minimum of 4 hours weekly)

 

C. Position Qualifications

  • Committed to Trinitarian, gospel-centeredness in doctrine, life and music
  • Band-driven rather than orchestral-driven style of music
  • Minimum of bachelor's degree in music and/or 5 years' related experience. Exceptions to the rule will be considered on a case by case basis
  • High level of overall musicianship
  • A builder/self-motivated/entrepreneurial spirit
  • Sanguine stage presence
  • Experience in leading corporate worship, directing and coordination of various instruments in a band
  • Ability to work with and train vocalists in singing of parts
  • Guitar and Piano skills preferred for leading congregational singing
  • Solo performance experience
  • Ability to work with and play loops (e.g., MultiTracks.com)
  • Leadership ability and ability to work with and inspire volunteers
  • Cast vision for the music ministry
