experienced rapid growth; growing from 950 to over 3,200 people on two campuses.
We are a demographically young church with a rich history located in the youngest city in
America, Jacksonville, NC. Jacksonville is home to the largest Marine Corp Bases located on
the east coast, only 25 miles from the beautiful beaches and coastline of North Carolina.
We are looking for a full time Executive Pastor or Director of Operations (XPO/XDO) who will
provide leadership, oversight and direction to the Operational Systems of FBC Jax under direct
supervision by the Senior Pastor. The (XPO) position requires a minimum of 10 years
professional level leadership management experience in a business, military or ministry

MINISTRY ROLE DESCRIPTION
The role of the Executive Pastor/Director of Operations (XPO/XDO), under the leadership of the Senior Pastor, is responsible for the overall leadership and direction of the Operational Systems of First Baptist Church in the accomplishment of the church’s mission and vision. The XPO will ensure that all systems, practices and policies of the church are fulfilled responsibly and effectively in its support of the ministry at FBC.

Qualifications and Skills Required:
· Fulfill the requirements of a First Baptist Church member as outlined in the Belong Membership Class.
· Fulfill the character qualification of a biblical elder/pastor as taught in the Scriptures.
· The XPO/XDO position requires a minimum of 10 years of professional level leadership management in a business, military or ministry environment with a proven track record of effective leadership, judgment and character.
· XPO must demonstrate a strong commitment to the overall mission of First Baptist Jacksonville. This person must be able to embody and reproduce the DNA of FBC into every aspect of our operational system.
· Must have the ability to see the big picture and turn vision into reality. Strong Administrative and organizational skills and gifts. Must be a builder of strategies and systems, focused on people and details, creating, leading and empowering the people towards accomplishing the win in their specific ministry and work environment.

The XPO/XDO will be responsible for the following:
1) StrategicLeadership, Oversight and Planning.
a. Supports the Senior Pastor in the accomplishment of the church’s mission through ministry and operational effectiveness evaluations, discernment, decision making, and long range planning.
b.Ensures the operational readiness of the church through leadership and oversight of the support staff performing duties in administration, finance, human resources, facilities management, IT and supply.
c. Facilitates the annual strategic planning process including evaluation of ministry performance; review of mission, vision, and core values; development of key objectives; and establishment of two-five year goals.
d. Establishes and maintains a set of key performance measures (KPMs) that provide the Senior Pastor and church staff with ongoing visibility of the effectiveness of all functional areas of the church.
e. Champions the development and implementation of best practice systems and infrastructure by all ministry and support areas that help to produce the healthy and long term growth of the church.
f. Ensuring that staffing, facilities and programs are appropriately and effectively aligned to best meet strategic goals.
g. Works with Senior Pastor and appropriate standing committees in leading the church’s building programs and campus additions; including capital fund raising campaigns, master planning, design and architecture, contractor selection, and construction.
2. StaffSupervision and Development.
a. Provides leadership to the staff team and serves as personnel director for pastors and paid staff in cooperation with the Personnel Committee.
b. Supervising the support and ministry staff as it relates to day to day ministry and operational activities.
c. Oversees training and leadership development process to maximize staff health.
d. Works with the personnel committee in implementing the hiring and dismissal process following direction and guidance from Senior Pastor.
e. Provides coaching to the staff pastors and personnel committee in evaluating appropriate changes to organization staffing structure.
a. Oversee and execute the administration of the church through appropriate staff, lay leadership teams
(standing committees), and consultants (as needed).
b. Ensure the completion of business, facility and logistical support functions through staff and volunteers.
c. Provide oversight and direction through appropriate staff and finance committee of the financial
functions of the church including; cash flow, contributions, insurance, banking and financing, payroll, contracts, budget development and administration.
d. Ensure the church’s technology infrastructure (IT) creates efficiencies and allows for continued
growth and innovation. Primary technology systems include but are not limited to church management solution, accounting software, computer network, telecommunications and technology systems to support the Production and Creative Arts programming of FBC.
e. Provide input and oversight of a facility usage plan.
a) Responsible for protecting and promoting First Baptist Church Jacksonville’s unique identity or brand through internal and external communications.
b) Ensure that the message of the gospel through FBC Jax is always communicated with quality and creativity and with the primary target, the “unchurched” in mind.
c) Create, implement, evaluate and maintain a Communications Pathway for all areas of ministry to follow.
