Job Description:

FACILITIES SUPPORT - Part-Time

 

PRIMARY PURPOSE + FUNCTION

Assist the efforts of the Facilities Team as it supports the community and ministries of Mars Hill Bible Church.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

 

Maintain the cleanliness of the Mars Hill building and grounds [40%]

  • Sweep, mop, strip, wax, and seal floors
  • Vacuum, extract, spot clean, and shampoo rugs and carpets
  • Empty and clean waste receptacles, including recycle containers
  • Clean and sanitize all restrooms
  • Fill towel and soap dispensers as needed
  • Order and stock appropriate supplies and materials for building and grounds
  • Perform various other actions to ensure a welcoming, clean and safe environment for all Mars Hill activities

 

Set up and tear down rooms as needed by the ministries of Mars Hill [30%]

  • Lead or assist in moving, arranging, and setting up furniture and equipment for all events
  • Remain cognizant of more efficient and/or less costly methods of accomplishing Facilities Team responsibilities
  • Be relational and helpful with all ministries, while adhering to Facility Policy by directing all requests to the appropriate process

 

Maintain the building and grounds [20%]

  • Perform maintenance and repairs to facility equipment and systems
  • Perform light mechanical, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and painting work
  • Move, install, and/or assemble all furniture and equipment as needed
  • Work with, lead, and encourage all community service workers
  • Perform light exterior work to maintain desired appearance of building and grounds [includes shoveling, salting, snow-blowing, lawn maintenance, weed removal, etc.]

 

Fully participate in, encourage and support the Mars Hill Facilities Team [10%]

  • Attend Facilities Team meetings and Mars Hill staff meetings as scheduled
  • Notify the Operations Manager of all concerns in a timely manner
  • Perform other duties as identified by the Operations Manager

KNOWLEDGE + COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS

  • Extremely high attention to detail and quality as well as a demonstrated commitment to creating and maintaining a welcoming atmosphere
  • Hands-on knowledge of at least one of the following trades: electrical, plumbing, HVAC, light carpentry, small equipment repair, or other areas
  • Excellent communications skills, as well as a commitment to understanding what is requested and demonstrating consistent follow-up in all communications
  • Demonstrated ability to proactively prioritize, manage, and tackle simultaneous demands with follow through and determination
  • Ability to thrive in a high-touch environment, which includes interacting in effective ways with a variety of individuals across various settings, while maintaining a congenial, professional, and caring demeanor when faced with challenging conversations and situations
  • Ability to deliver results that are at or above expectations
  • Demonstrated ability to recognize and identify facilities issues and needs and ensure their completion without direct supervision
  • Basic knowledge of computer software applications for completing routine job assignments
  • Ability to walk or stand for 8-10 hours per day
  • Ability to regularly and repetitively lift, carry, and place large numbers of chairs and tables, in addition to lifting furniture [desks, couches, etc.]  [with or without accommodation]
  • Ability to shovel snow up to 2 hours a day [with or without accommodation]
  • Ability to work unscheduled overtime and to work outside of normal schedule [with notice] to fill-in for absent team members
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license, with a clean driving history

 

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • High School Diploma
  • 1-3 years of maintenance/custodial experience in an institutional/commercial environment [schools, churches, office or industrial facilities]

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS   POSITION DETAILS

Team Leader:                       Operations Manager           

Payroll Status:                      Part-Time, Hourly, Non-Exempt

Office Hours:                         Day Shift [24 hours weekly],

                                                 Alternating Schedule:  Week One – Sunday, Monday, Tuesday

                                                                                             Week Two – Monday, Tuesday, Friday
