Job Type:
Mountain Park Community Church
Job Description:

Mountain Park Community Church (MPCC) is seeking a full-time Student Ministries Associate to help continue the growth of our strong and dynamic student ministry. This position and will be the “number two” leader of all aspects of student ministries with tremendous opportunity to grow under the direction of the Pastor of Student Ministries, Beth Wolff.

MPCC is a thriving church in the beautiful Ahwatukee, an affluent area within sunny Pheonix. This community has a true small town feel and is known as the “largest cul-de-sak in the world” because of the nearby mountain ranges and tribal lands separating it from neighboring communities. While only 26 years old since originally planted in a nearby high school, MPCC has grown to averaging over 1,600 on Sunday mornings and is one of the largest churches in the area. The local community features excellent schools, abundant sports and outdoor activities, beautiful desert surroundings, and a health conscious culture, but is also marked by a divorce rate of nearly 70% and a façade of beauty and wealth masking the brokenness and loneliness of so many. Additionally, students here are under tremendous pressures to perform academically and in extracurricular activities. In the midst of all of this, MPCC challenges people to celebrate God’s story and launch into theirs. We describe our church personality as safe, yet dangerous; fun, yet intentional; and confident, yet humble; and we strive to reach the many distracted and disinterested in our community with an invitation to realize their role in God’s story.

Responsibilities will include plan, implement, and execute a mid-week program that draws 80-150 middle school students each week; serve as camp director for two middle school camps of 40-80 students each year; plan, implement, and execute creative ministry for middle school and high school students; support Sunday mornings programming; teach at least four times per month; maintain social media strategies; and support the overall student ministires. This role will also be a key part of recruiting and developing teams of adult volunteers to work with students in all areas of the ministry.

The successful candidate has a proven track record of responsibility for and management of large numbers of students. They are personably extroverted, don’t take themselves too seriously, and enjoy engaging, playing, and having fun with students. They have a history of successful planning and implementing events and ideas, demonstrate confidence in their self, are competent in ministry skills, and yet remain humble and teachable. Being able to take initiative as a self-starter is very important, as well as the ability to work autonomously, yet thriving in a team atmosphere. In addition, they will embrace the philosophy that parents are the primary disciplers of their students.
