Greater Gresham Baptist Church began in 1988 with four couples who sensed God’s leading to plant a church to reach the un-churched. Since then the church has grown to a weekend average attendance of 700. Known as a church that cares for the community and
has a heart for international missions, Greater Gresham draws people from all over East Multnomah County.
Greater Gresham has a dynamic children’s ministry that is designed to partner with parents to disciple their children in Christ. Skilled volunteers and meaningful group environments help communicate the timeless knowledge of God each weekend.
The Children’s Ministries Pastor/Director will be responsible for identifying the spiritual needs of children birth through sixth grade from the church family and attempt to partner with parents to meet those needs. He/she will be responsible to the church
for the development, implementation, and administration of a biblical, age-appropriate discipleship ministry for children that reaches out to families in our community. He/she must love children, recruit volunteers, lead adults and be a team player that contributes
to an over-arching strategy to help people of all ages be growing disciples.
Gresham is the fourth largest city in Oregon with a population of 100,000 but reaches out to a population base of over 200,000 people. Gresham is a suburb on the east side of Portland, one of the least Christian cities in America with 70% of the population
claiming no religious affiliation. We live in a great mission field with many opportunities to communicate the love of Christ through word and deed. Our next Children’s Ministries Pastor/Director must be godly, self-motivated with a heart for the lost and
a passion to help parents train up children to live effectively for Christ in this pre-Christian culture and all over the world.
