Modesto Covenant Church

Student Ministries Pastor

Modesto Covenant Church
Modesto, California, United States

Date Posted: 11/28/2013
Categories: Youth Pastor
Denominations: Evangelical Covenant
Church Size: 351 to 500
Job Type: Full-Time

Job Description:

The primary responsibility of the Student Ministries Pastor is to oversee Junior High, High School, and College-Age ministry. The Student Ministries Pastor will also supervise, equip, and empower the Student Ministries Associate and adult volunteers to develop their gifts and abilities to serve in ministry.  The Student Ministries Associate’s role is to lead weekly Junior High Ministry and assist with High School Ministry.  The Student Ministries Pastor leads weekly meetings with High School and College-Age Ministry.

We include College-Age Ministry under Student Ministries because our goal in Student Ministries is to lead students to become fully devoted, lifetime followers of Jesus Christ.  Helping students remain connected, growing, and serving beyond High School is essential.  This also means that our Student Ministries Pastor will have less involvement with Junior High students to allow ministry to College-Age individuals.

The Student Ministries Pastor oversees the Student Ministries Associate.  The Student Ministries Associate is a full-time 2-3 year position, like an extended internship, where someone can learn ministry while leading Junior High students, and be supervised by our Student Ministries Pastor.  Our current Student Ministries (SM) Associate is in her first year.  With the understanding of the current SM Associate, the new SM Pastor will be able to choose a new Associate to begin in August 2014, or may choose to have the current Associate continue for a second year.

In August 2013 our previous Student Ministries Pastor left for another ministry and our Student Ministries Associate left to attend seminary.  After this transition, our current Junior High Group has about 40 students attending weekly.  The High School Group has about 50 students weekly.  There is also a weekly College-Age meeting called Community, with about 10 regular attenders.
