Christ Community Church is a non-denominational church in the western suburbs of Chicago. 
We are seeking a servant leader who will be responsible for providing leadership, shepherding and team building for the management, growth and development of our Student Ministries at the DeKalb campus location, which currently averages 1,000 attendees per Sunday. 




The primary responsibility for this position is to serve Christ Community Church by providing leadership to the Student Ministries at the DeKalb campus.  Expectations of leadership include: casting the vision for the campus ministry under the umbrella of CCC Student Ministries; recruiting, training and caring for volunteer teams; planning and implementing ministry programs and events; serving as the primary pastor for middle and high school students; and shepherding students to have a deeper understanding of God’s word and a more intimate relationship with Christ.






  • Serves as a key contributor on the strategic development of SM programs, events and initiatives for the entire ministry season
  • Together with the Campus Pastor, Student Ministries Team Captain and St. Charles Middle and High School Pastors, develops a plan for the implementation of the high school ministry in consideration of the purpose and priorities of the SM, as well as resources available at the local campus
  • Provides leadership for MS/HS ministry events by: facilitating an effective planning process, ensuring effective communication to students, leaders and parents; overseeing event implementation; and performing a comprehensive evaluation to provide feedback on the relative value of each event with respect to the local campuses and to Student Ministries as a whole



  • Teaches in Student Ministry environments as needed



  • Oversees the development and health of DC House Group leadership team members, who are responsible for investing in adult and student leaders, identifying serving opportunities with Community Impact partners, and evangelizing to students at local area schools



  • Provides pastoral leadership to MS/HS students at the DeKalb Campus to ensure that each is actively being shepherded in a small group structure that is well staffed by volunteers, well equipped with curriculum, and strategically prepared for growth



  • Regular & Ongoing- prayer, evangelism/outreach, teaching, shepherding/discipleship, one-on-one counseling, serving as ministry staff on-call, providing care and/or referrals to individual students and families needing assistance, and serving as baptism coordinator for MS/HS students
  • As needed/directed – weddings, funerals, baby dedications, serving communion, missions trips



  • As part of the Ministry staff at the DeKalb Campus, the Student Ministries Pastor also provides general support to the church as a whole through the performance of various pastoral care functions and by completing miscellaneous tasks and assignments, as directed by the Campus  Pastor




The DeKalb Student Ministries Pastor agrees to take on additional responsibilities as directed by the supervisor and as necessary for the continued development of the DeKalb campus of Christ Community Church.  These responsibilities will most likely be added according to the gifts, passions and talents of the employee, designed to address the growing and changing needs of the ministry team and may be added at the initiative and discretion of the supervisor.




  • Reports to the DeKalb Campus Pastor; receives direction from the Student Ministries Directors
  • Serves as a member of the DeKalb Campus Team and the Student Ministries team, under the direction of the Student Ministries Team Captain
  • Interacts frequently with multi-campus and resource staff, especially the SM Creative Arts Director and SM Executive Assistant at the SC Campus
  • Supervises the DC Middle School Pastor
  • Develops mentoring/shepherding relationships with same gender students
  • Helps recruit, schedule and supervise adult and student volunteers in support roles
  • Submits to the Senior Pastor and Board of Elders of Christ Community Church



  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree, with 5 years related ministry experience preferred
  • Evidence of a passion for evangelism & for students
  • Experience recruiting, creating, developing, and deploying volunteer teams
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for use in a variety of settings from formal presentations and large community gatherings to informational meetings to 1-on-1 counseling or discipleship opportunities
  • Flexibility in scheduled work hours based upon special events, regular weekend services
  • Availability to participate in missions related ministry opportunities
  • Key spiritual gifts of leadership, evangelism and administration
  • Proven success in leadership replication and strategic ministry execution
  • Evidence of a passion for evangelism & for students
  • Willingness to commit in membership to Christ Community Church within first 12 months of employment
  • Ability to fulfill the physical, mental and emotional requirements of the position, and work within the necessary work environments, as listed in the attached ADA task list, which is considered an addendum to this job description
  • Willingness and ability to comply with and support all policies, procedures, standards and statements outlined in the Staff Handbook, position papers and other governing documents created for Christ Community Church
  • A growing committed follower of Jesus Christ. (1 Tim 3:1-7; Titus 1:6-9)
  • If married, a home as spelled out in Eph. 5:21-6:4
