                  Shift/Hours/Days:              4 days per week/9:00 am – 4:30 pm and Sunday services

The primary responsibility of a Children’s Pastor is to provide the overall vision and pastoral care for children ages 0 – 5th grade.  This individual will not only need to exercise the initiative and creativity in overseeing the children’s ministry but also equip the children with the necessary tools that will allow them to be successful in their Christian walk.  Job duties include, but not limited to, the following:


  • Develop and implement effective Children’s Ministry environments for each age group that support the purpose and vision of the church
  • Develop short-term and long-term discipleship strategies for Children’s Ministries in collaboration with the Lead Pastor
  • Call and challenge all children to live fully surrendered lives to Jesus
  • Recruit, equip and empower lay leaders (teens and adults) as volunteers, teachers and ministry coordinators
  • Provide effective communication avenues, training and mentoring processes, pastoral care and abundant appreciation
  • Manage the process for volunteer background checks and Child-Abuse Prevention training
  • Develop and maintain secure and effective check in and check out system
  • Oversee all logistical aspects of the ministries, which include volunteer scheduling, ordering curriculum and supplies, recording class attendance and offerings, and all other administrative duties
  • Provide, organize and ensure effective and timely communications among, between and to parents and parishioners of the church
  • Promote Children’s Ministry events
  • Develop, recruit, train and oversee the Children’s outreaches and events
  • Oversee the Mothers Of Preschool Children (MOPS) program and its volunteers
  • Oversee all baby dedications conducted by the church; work closely with the Hospitality Event Secretary to ensure a smooth presentation
  • Correlate all activities with the vision of the church, coordinating with other departments of the church as well as the church’s master calendar
  • Stay current with the trends in the world-at-large, the community being served, the specific needs of the children in the community and the vices that bind specific schools in our areas
  • Manage the ministry’s budget as approved by the Elder Board




            Minimum Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) in Biblical Studies, Christian Education or Equivalent Training, Early Childhood Studies, Elementary Education (Note:  college degree is preferred; not required.)
  • Minimum 3 years related pastoral or ministry experience in Children Ministry
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
  • Proven ability to articulate church objectives and development goals
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work collaboratively
  • Independent judgment and initiative
  • Skill in the use of operating basic office equipment
  • Proficient computer skills a MUST!!  (Macintosh knowledge recommended)
