Job Description:

The Vision of Harvester Christian Church is to lead people to new life in Jesus.

The Mission is to multiply disciples in relational environments.


The primary purpose of the discipleship team is to encourage relational discipleship in life-on-life mentoring and in discipleship-oriented Life Groups. We will also supplement the work of the Life Groups by providing some on-campus teaching and by conducting a limited number of discipleship events. In regard to new members, our team will assist in the assimiliation process (101 and 201) and will have the responsibility of connecting new people into Life Groups.


Besides being a person who exhibits spiritual maturity, of prime importance for this pastor is a deep desire to spend time investing personally in the lives of Life Group Coaches and, to a lesser extent, Life Group Leaders. This pastor reports to the Discipleship Team Leader.


Job Responsibilities:

Recruit, train and mentor all of the Life Group Coaches

Meet with groups of coaches once a month in Huddles

  • Discuss upcoming curriculum
  • Discuss health of groups
  • Prayer
  • Vision Casting

Meet with each male coach individually once a month

  • Encouragement
  • Accountability
  • Vision Casting
  • Troubleshooting problems within groups

Maintain quality control of Life Groups

  •         - Are they healthy?
  •         - Growing?
  •         - Succeeding in the mission?
  •         - Branching?
  •         - Developing new leaders?
  •         - Serving?

Maintain communication with the Life Group Leaders

  •         - Using email and social media to keep leaders up-to-date
  •         - Meeting with Life Group Leaders as needed 

Work with Discipleship Team Leader to plan and execute leadership training events

Work with Discipleship Team Leader to develop curriculum for Life Groups

  •         - Teaching the Story-telling method
  •         - Choosing stories for the groups and writing discussion questions

Possible involvement in the assimiliation process; helping to lead 101 and 201 classes
