Job Description:

WHO IS THE WOODS CHURCH?

The Woods Church is a multi-site church, located in the Metro-Detroit area. Our purpose is to spread the good news of Jesus Christ, and restore love, hope and purpose in our communities. We are a part of the Nazarene denomination, which extends our mission to the corners of the globe.

Our church community largely consists of young families. On an average Sunday, our three campuses run about 1,400 in attendance. You’ll see everyone from students, to singles, and those who have been here for our entire 50+ years.

At The Woods Church, the arts matter. In fact, there are few things as important to us as creating a worship environment that is both excellent and free of distraction. At this time, we are looking for a Technical Director that is passionate about partnering with our Worship and Arts team to create dynamic environments of worship where people can enter into the presence of God.

WHAT WILL I DO?

The Technical Director will leverage technology as a tool to creatively establish an atmosphere of worship with as little distraction as possible. The Technical Director will provide leadership to our Technical Arts ministry that includes, but is not limited to, the technical (media, audio, video, and lighting) components of our mid-week and Sunday morning activities. The Technical Director will direct and oversee all team members and the technical aspects of the worship experiences.

We’re looking for someone with the ability to develop and lead teams of volunteers who will provide media, audio, lighting and video during our services each week. This person is a seasoned leader who can build a structure of volunteer leaders who lead other volunteers in the setup, troubleshooting, and usage of our media, audio, video, and lighting equipment.

The Technical Director will not only lead and care for Technical Arts team members but will also be responsible for the maintenance, care, and troubleshooting of all technical equipment at The Woods Church. Our Technical Director will be an expert in one or more of the following: media, audio, video, or lighting. More importantly, the Technical Director at The Woods Church will be a learner by nature so they will not be content with their current level of Technical Arts knowledge.

The right candidate will also have the gifts and capacity to be a leader of leaders. As a multi-site church, the Technical Director will work alongside the Campus Worship Leaders to offer guidance, support and training. They will also meet regularly with volunteer tech leaders from each campus mentoring them to lead their teams.
