Director of Family Ministries

Exempt Full-time Position (40-55 hours per week)

Reports to Senior Pastor, works with church leadership and membership

 

 

Hillside United Methodist Church, located in Princeton, Indiana, is seeking a dynamic individual to help our children, youth and families grow closer to Jesus Christ.  Qualified applicants will: have a mature, close, personal relationship with Jesus Christ; be a team player; have a servant’s heart; possess godly character; love God; and love God’s people. 

 

 

Hillside is a vibrant and growing church with almost 500 members worshiping close to 300 weekly in two unique services.  Hillside is a busy  place with ministry activities occurring every day and night of the week including: Preschool, Friends Club for K-5, Youth Group for 6-12, Boy Scouts, Sunday School, Bible Studies, Small Groups and many other special events and service opportunities. Over 1000 people walk through the doors of Hillside Church each week to worship, learn, grow, teach, meet, play and work as well as to seek help in dealing with the struggles of life.

 

 

Basic Gifts and Skills needed:

  • Comfortable teaching, leading and interacting with all age groups
  • Comfortable recruiting volunteers to serve and reach out to our community
  • Confident in own personal relationship with Christ and comfortable sharing faith with others
  • Compassionate toward and comfortable caring for all of God’s people

 

Areas of responsibility include:

  • Pray for the children, youth, adults and families of Hillside Church and the surrounding communities


  • Resource the Children’s Ministries of Hillside Church (10-15 hrs/week)

o   Work with Leaders to develop a Leadership Team

o   Support curriculum development for Sunday School, Kids, Friend’s Club & VBS

o   Recruit volunteers to serve in the Children’s ministries

o   Help plan and organize special events for children & families

o   Increase attendance and participation in children’s ministry activities

o   Teach regularly as needed

o   Set ambitious, yet achievable goals to help kids grow in Christ


  • Resource the Youth Ministries of Hillside Church (10-15 hrs/week)

o   Work with Leaders to develop a Leadership Team

o   Support curriculum development for Sunday School, Youth Group and Confirmation

o   Recruit volunteers to serve in the Youth Ministries

o   Help plan and organize special events and mission trips for youth & families

o   Increase attendance and participation in youth ministry activities

o   Teach regularly as needed 

o   Set ambitious, yet achievable goals to help youth grow in Christ


  • Resource the Adult & Family Faith Development Ministries of Hillside Church (10-15 hrs/week)

o   Work with Leaders to develop a Leadership Team

o   Support curriculum development for Sunday School and small groups

o   Recruit volunteers to teach and lead small groups

o   Help plan and organize special events and retreats for adults and families

o   Increase attendance and participation in family activities, small groups & Sunday School

o   Teach regularly as needed

o   Set ambitious, yet achievable goals to help adults grow in Christ


  • Team player supporting worship & basic pastoral care needs of the congregation (5-10 hrs/week)

o   Pray for the aging members of Hillside Church and our community

o   Be a vital part of the worship planning team

o   Present Children’s Moments regularly

o   Offer personal gifts to enhance worship

o   Visit elderly and homebound members

o   Visit members and families in hospitals as needed

o   Be present for pastoral care and support during times of crisis
