POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Children’s Ministry Director will serve as the leader of the children’s ministry to kids, age birth through fifth grade, at Element Church. While all ministries at Element Church will function within the framework of the larger church vision, the Children’s Ministry Director will seek to creatively implement that vision in a way that is relevant and effective for children.

 

Element Church is a fast-growing congregation of 2400+ with an incredible vision to develop and disciple children. The weekly children’s ministry services will be a time to creatively reach this lost generation. Leadership development will be at the core of this position. At the pace Element is growing (more than 20% annually), it is imperative to quickly have strong systems in place for recruiting and developing leaders.

 

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The effective Children’s Ministry Director will creatively design services to provide opportunities for children to come to know Christ at an early age. By offering meaningful services, programs and activities for children of all ages, they will make learning about God interesting, fun and engaging. They will achieve the following goals:

 

  • Lead dynamically from the platform, but also place heavy emphasis on developing current and future leaders for the ministry.
  • Bring a level of creativity to children’s ministry services that are in line with Element Church’s other weekend experiences. 
  • Recruit and thoroughly train a volunteer force to serve in weekend services and special events for the church.
  • Develop a vision and plan for resourcing and improving the children’s ministry at Element Church.
  • Direct and manage the children’s ministry budget with a high-level of stewardship and understanding of the “big picture.”
  • Create a strategy and build systems for the future development of Element’s large children’s ministry.
  • Lead an established staff while providing vision and training to take the department to the next level.

JOB SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of leadership in a 2,000+ member church setting committed to reaching the unreached with a high degree of innovation, recruitment, and retention of new members. Proven experience in leadership, creative thinking and problem solving is a must. Strong work history in communication with children, families and volunteers is also required. In sum, the successful candidate will be ready to go – to "plug and play" from day one on the job.

  • A passion for children’s ministry and to see families grow in God.
  • The ability to communicate to both children and parents with authenticity, authority, passion, and effectiveness.
  • Reliability in the execution of a plan, and dependability to deliver the goals and expectations asked.
  • The ability to excel in recruiting and leading leaders.
  • The ability to work with senior leadership to implement vision and strategies that move the church toward a desired future of reaching people and building lives.
