Job Description:

Director of Youth and University Ministries

The Director will handle the day to day operations of the Youth and University Ministries at Meridian Street with emphasis on recruiting and training volunteers, organizing events and supporting leadership in these two areas of ministry.


Key Expectations:

Building bridges from 5th and 6th graders toward Middle School participation in Youth Ministry, supporting Youth Ministry and engaging with college age students through campus ministry at Butler University and Undergrounds at Meridian Street.  Building relationships students will happen at the church, on campus and at student events, concerts, games, etc. within safety policies of the church.   

Ministry Focus:

  • Knowing the names and building relationships with the participants in the ministries and their families
  • Leading students and volunteers in Biblical and theological reflection and teaching
  • Interfacing with the Director of Children’s Ministry to begin to build enthusiasm for Youth Ministry with 5th and 6th graders to start that process
  • Finding the leadership as well as personally participating in the Confirmation Process with 7th graders
  • Supporting leadership with resources and materials for Youth events at Meridian Street for 7-12 graders and for Undergrounds and Reclaimed (campus ministry) at Butler University
  • Recruiting and training leaders to build relationships with the students through study, prayer and various ministries
  • Creating and distributing a yearly calendar of ministry options to achieve stated goals, nurture students and support leaders and parents
  • Designing and creating planning teams to evaluate mission, values and goals for the two ministries
  • Connecting with students through participation in the actual gatherings and following up with first time visitors and disconnected students
  • Attending weekly staff meetings to coordinate with other ministries
  • Publicizing the ministries to the congregation and beyond
  • Participating in general church events to build connections with the wider congregation
  • Supervising an Intern to help support these ministries
  • Growing through continuing education each year


Supervisors:  Associate Pastor/Senior Pastor

Generally 45 hours a week

Starting Salary $28,000 – $30,000

Includes Health Insurance, Vacation Time and Continuing Ed expenses

Educational Requirements:  College Degree with background in religious studies and/or church experience
