Purpose / Summary


The main purpose of the Elementary Children’s Ministry Coordinator is to provide support in the Kindergarten – Grade 4 (K4) and Grade 5 & 6 (56ers) programs. This will involve editing and distributing curriculum, providing leadership to our volunteers, teaching to our children & parents and assisting with CrossRoads Kids events. The Elementary Children’s Ministry Coordinator should have a heart for discipling the children in our church and a passion to see the children of Central Alberta have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.



Key Responsibilities


  • Assisting the Pastor to K-6 Families in providing leadership to Kindergarten-Grade 6 children, their families and volunteers
  • Working with the Pastor of K-6 Families and the Children’s Ministry team in the vision / strategy planning that keeps with the overall vision of the church
  • Helping with 56er events and provide administrative assistance to the Pastor to K-6 Families on an “as needed” basis
  • Teaching large group between one and three Sundays per month
  • Sound booth directing (Sunday mornings) and scheduling including Worship communicating and loading of slides
  • Budget tracking and collection of funds for events
  • Assistance writing and sending bi-weekly newsletters, dribble training and Crossing submissions
  • Assist in the recruiting and ongoing mobilization of volunteers in the Elementary programs
  • Researching effective resources that are consistent with the vision of CrossRoads Church
  • Recognizing the needs of Elementary volunteers and ensuring those needs are met (training, resources, etc)
  • Maintaining the K4 pages of the Children’s Ministry web page
  • Ensuring that Elementary Ministry programs or events are advertised effectively in the Crossing Newsletter or other resources
  • Assisting with feature CrossRoads Kids events in cooperation with the Children’s Ministry team and taking the lead for a minimum of one event
  • Assisting with parent-child Faith At Home events for Kindergarten – Grade 6 children




  • Attend weekly and monthly staff and administration meetings
  • Attend Congregational Meetings
  • Participate in monthly Family Ministry team building meetings
  • Participate in bi-weekly Children’s Ministry Team meetings






  • Have a degree in Children’s Ministry, Education or other relevant degree
  • Spiritually mature Christian
  • Member, or willing to become a member of CrossRoads Church
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills with children and their parents as well as both student and adult volunteers
  • Experience working with children and their parents in a Children’s Ministry or educational setting
  • Enjoys working with and contributing to a team
  • A willingness to serve and a positive attitude
  • Demonstrated excellence in written/verbal communication skills
  • Requires a high level of initiative and the ability to work independently, performing duties with minimal direction and supervision
  • Ability to anticipate needs, to be highly organized, pay attention to detail, multi-task and be a good time manager
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, Publisher, Word, Power Point, Excel & Outlook
  • Must sign the CrossRoads Staff Lifestyle Agreement and CrossRoads Confidentiality Agreement
  • Must provide criminal record check and child intervention check (child welfare check)
