Elevate Mankato
Job Description:

Are you our next Lead Pastor?

Elevate is a church of 300+ located in the beautiful Minnesota River Valley at Mankato and dedicated to proclaiming the Good News of The Lord Jesus Christ.

We’ve grown quite a bit over the last two years as evidenced by the large number of babies in the nursery and people who have been baptized.

We’re non-denominational and our lead pastor will most likely be too. The Bible is at the center of all we believe and do. We’re conservative but not legalistic. Grace is the heart of our teaching and relationships. We’re not Pentecostal but hungry for the leading and work of The Holy Spirit.

We think the 80/20 rule is really cute. At Elevate a large percentage of us are serving in some capacity. We have a strong core of volunteers led by volunteers. The only staff in our immediate future is a Lead Pastor. Our volunteer department leaders are looking to be mentored and empowered.

We meet in a recently repurposed brewery and the building’s atmosphere is a little industrial. Our meeting room is decidedly not a sanctuary but a place for doing life together, culminating in worship on Sunday mornings. You won’t see a lot of typical religious stuff. We do baptisms in an inflatable pool and we’ve even been known to serve cupcakes for communion. It’s not unusual to see our Sunday morning teacher in shorts and sandals or flannel shirts in the winter. You won’t often see ties at Elevate. We encourage everyone to come as they are.

While we treat people’s eternal destiny with deadly earnestness, we don’t take ourselves too seriously. We believe God laughs a lot and we join Him as often as possible, even on Sunday mornings.

You’ll meet some people who have walked with Christ for many years, but mostly you’ll find people who have come to Him more recently. We are a people in every stage of recovery from sin and brokenness. We get especially excited when those who don’t know Him yet feel like they’ve found home.

At Elevate we talk about taking steps. Whether we’ve walked with God for 30 years or 30 minutes we’re always looking to simply take the next step.

A bell curve of our ages would peak somewhere in the 20s. Our worship is contemporary. Three volunteer worship teams alternate leading us into the presence of The Father on Sunday mornings. Minnesota State University and several other colleges in town are strongly represented.

Corporately and as individuals we take James’ illustration of true religion, taking care of widows and orphans, very seriously. We place helping those in physical need very high on our list of priorities and our budget. Our first target is the unchurched of our community without forgetting our responsibility to those at the ends of the Earth.

Are you just out of school? Congratulations! Check back with us next time. Has your only role been as a youth pastor? We’re probably looking for someone with more teaching experience, but God has done stranger things!
