Job Description:

The Children’s Ministry Pastor will provide spiritual, visionary, team-based leadership for children six months to eleven years, their families and volunteers in a manner consistent with the mission and vision of Abundant Living Family Church. We are seeking a vibrant, energetic and creative individual to join our ministry team and lead Children’s Ministry to another level in the name of the Lord.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership, training, and planning for the Children’s ministry staff and volunteers.
  • Conduct a Children’s staff meeting weekly.
  • Provide Sunday, Wednesday, and Saturday oversight and leadership of all children’s ministry services as well as classes, events, and promotional activities
  • Attend all scheduled staff meetings, trainings, and pertinent church wide events.
  • Oversee the children’s ministry budget and monitor approvals and expenditures
  • Direct and grow the children’s services and programs (6 months to 11 years) including quarterly volunteer recruitment and training, worship, curriculum enhancement, and family support
  • Provide pastoral care and support to children and families
  • Develop and train volunteer directors to facilitate needs of the ministry pertaining to each department, eg. nursery, 2-3, 4-5, through regular meetings scheduled throughout the year
  • Develop, implement, monitor and respond to all safety and security protocols for children; ensuring a physically, emotionally, and spiritually safe environment for children
  • Communicate regularly with AbundantKids volunteers and parents through various means of communication while building relationships and trust
  • Attend church staff meetings
  • Participate in “all hands on” events and activities
  • Develop and achieve ministry quarterly goals and objectives
  • Develop and maintain safe, clean, and aesthetic learning environments
  • Assist in various event and activity set-ups as needed for Children’s Ministry
  • Minister to all age groups as needed
  • Work with the Creative Arts team to plan, organize, execute and coordinate focused outreach events and activities for Children’s Ministry e.g. public school groups, park outreaches, Easter      events, summer camp
  • Develop, evaluate and implement appropriate strategies, concepts that are applicable to the 21st century child
  • Regularly conduct research to enhance and further develop Children’s Ministry
  • With the Children’s team, plan a minimum of 5 majo events for kids ages 5-11 throughout the year including one event for 2-4 year olds.
  • Work with the Children’s Ministry Administrator to track attendance patterns and trends
  • Identify and formulate solutions to deficiencies and problems with delivery system
  • Perform other duties and functions as required
  • Work a scheduled 47 hours a week.



To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following:


  • Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree in biblical studies or Christian Education coupled with a solid biblical      background
  • At least 5 years of working in a Children’s Ministry setting
  • Experience and ability to recruit, train, motivate, equip, and manage volunteer staff
  • Possess the ability and passion to equip people to do the work of ministry
  • A passion for children’s ministry and to see families      grow in their faith together
  • Demonstrated skills in leadership, interpersonal, administrative, organizational, and time management
  • Be an active and continuing learner by remaining abreast of current trends in children’s ministry
  • Effective communication skills (written, verbal and interpersonal)
  • Demonstrated capacity to co-labor and lead people with a wide range of gifts, strengths, personalities, temperaments, and passions
  • Competency with basic computer software and administration skills (Excel, Word, Publisher), and the capacity to learn new software and complete organizational forms and procedures
  • Possess Knowledge of mandated reporting policies
  • Possess strong creative, critical thinking, and problem solving strategic abilities
  • Possess the ability to be an excellent mentor
  • Demonstrate capability to effectively delegate
  • Experience in designing and developing children’s ministry programs
