Job Description:

Position: Student Ministries Pastor / Director

  • Title will be determined based upon experience


Position Summary: 

To lead a vibrant Student Ministry where students are growing and compelled to invite their unchurched friends.


Foundational Qualities: 

  • Spiritual Gifts: Preaching / Teaching, Shepherding, Leadership, Encouragement
  • Biblically qualified according to 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9
  • Excellent communication abilities, especially in the areas of preaching and teaching
  • Self-motivated, responsible, big picture leader, visionary, inspiring
  • A leader who draws people toward a destination; people naturally want to follow him
  • Outgoing, warm, builds relationships easily, authentic, team player, humble, balanced
  • Meets our standards of Character, Competency, Chemistry, Capacity, and Courage


  • Minimum Training Requirement - Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) from a Christian and Biblically based college or University; Education from a secular college or university will have additional requirements to verify Bible training and knowledge; Preferred – education emphasis on youth ministry or working toward a ministry degree


  • Preferred experience – Two - five years in full-time youth ministries (or equivalent); Proven capabilities in all pertinent capacities of youth ministry


Working Relationships:

  • Primarily accountable to the Community Pastor and secondarily to the Lead Pastor



  • Have oversight of all student ministries including high school and junior high
  • Cast vision, expand, and improve GracePoint student ministries
  • Oversee the student ministry budget
  • Oversee and manage the student ministry assistant
  • Continually evaluate, always working to infuse creativity and relevance
  • Effectively demonstrate a balanced emphasis on both saved and unsaved students
  • Regularly recruit and train a passionate, effective and qualified volunteer team; establishing a sustainable volunteer system
  • Plan and coordinate weekly programs and special events, throughout the year
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and volunteer staff
  • Effectively mitigate all problems related to student ministries
