Job Description:
Growing, non-denominational church of 750 in the northern suburbs of Washington, DC, is looking for an exceptional, up-front, full-time worship pastor to lead both vocally and instrumentally. We believe that in our post-modern culture, both churched and unchurched are searching for community and spirituality and providing vibrant, creative worship addresses this hunger.

Candidate should be authentic and confident, with a dynamic personality, several years of experience as a worship pastor, proficient in piano and/or guitar, with a proven ability to connect and interact with the congregation during worship. Must possess the ability to “read the room” and be aware of crowd dynamics in order to direct meaningful worship experiences, including the ability to depart from the script if warranted. Must be able to make creative decisions during worship that value people over programs. Must be comfortable with a mix of contemporary music and centuries-old spiritual practices of silence and reflection. Some of the words we would use to describe a successful candidate are: initiator, communicator, breadth, expressive, interactive, flexible, adaptable, spontaneous, attuned to incoming information, open to new experiences.

Candidate must be a team player, able to recruit, direct, shepherd and motivate our team of vocalists, musicians, and technical volunteers. Must be skilled in using diverse elements (music, multimedia, etc.) to convey a message in creative ways. Gifts of leadership and creative communication are essential.
