Position Summary

The role of the Communications Director is to oversee and manage the communication practices of GFC under the direction and leadership of the Staff Pastor. The CD will strategize the best way to effectively communicate to both the body and individual ministry areas as well as proactively create and maintain quality processes, which promote unity, authenticity, clarity, and simplicity. This is a full time position with benefits.


Core Responsibilities

  1. Coordinate communications strategy and provide leadership to plan, produce, and evaluate church-wide communications for a 1500+ person church
  2. Advise the executive leadership team on marketing strategies for key initiatives and work with ministry leaders in creating effective communication strategies consistent with church-wide communication goals
  3. Continually refine GFC’s communications policies, procedures, and quality control checks for all ministry areas to ensure consistency with GFC branding and direction
  4. Plan and project-manage communications deliverables with the graphic designer, videographer, and local printer (including media slides, print cards, publications, mailers, business cards, banners, posters, signage, promotional videos, tickets, email campaigns) and insure consistency with GFC branding
  5. Assure the arrival and implementation of all deliverables (including all print, web, and lobby spaces) 
  6. Project-manage the weekly bulletin
  7. Write and manage content as needed for communication channels
  8. Maintain oversight for website content, including updating pages as needed, creating new pages as needed, maintaining calendars, oversight for blogging, and homepage banners
  9. Oversee all social media outlets and posts, including FaceBook and Twitter
  10. Work with the Staff Pastor in strategizing how to communicate key initiatives and provide Sunday morning deliverables
  11. Work with the Worship Arts team to effectively coordinate communications via Sunday worship services
  12. Oversee the Communications & Marketing budget
  13. Oversee special communication and marketing associated with events, including lanyards, pamphlets, booklets, special signage, ticketing, external promotion
  14. Oversee special initiatives as assigned by the Staff Pastor, including new church-wide communication channels

  3. Keen eye for detail as well as an eye for look and consistent branding
  4. Teachable, responsive, and respectful of authority
  5. Highly responsible, with consistent follow-through and a commitment to meet all deadlines
  6. Flexible to facilitate changes from executive leadership or from unforeseen circumstances
  7. Able to proactively and constantly improve communications processes, internally and externally
  8. Strong oral and written communication skills



  1. A mature, growing believer with a clear understanding of the Gospel, along with the ability to clearly communicate it
  2. Agrees to and supports GFC’s core beliefs and is committed to spiritual integrity
  3. Proven record of effective leadership and management in strategic communications, marketing, and or public relations
  4. Strong team player – leading with concern for the overall ministry of GFC and not just communications
  5. Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Marketing, Public Relations, or a similar field
  6. Strong knowledge of computer systems, including word processing, electronic communication software, membership software programs, simple web editing -- graphic design is a plus, but not necessary
