Ahhhhh! Our worship leader is getting married and moving. This is such a bummer for us as she was fantastic. It creates large shoes to fill but we are confident there is someone talented and creative out there who can lead worship each week.
Who we are
We are a growing multigenerational Free Methodist church that is currently at about 250 people. We have a heart for the poor and disenfranchised. Our church is very welcoming to un-churched people and we relate well to those who are seeking a relationship
with God. We try to strike a balance between speaking in terms everyone can understand while showing how God’s Word is true and applies to all of us. We are in Garden Grove, CA with a low income housing project right next door to our church and an elementary
school across the street. There is a lot of ministry to do in the community! There are many exciting things right around the corner for our church. We have an incredible relationship with our city officials, we just raised $390k for remodeling our campus
(including new children’s play equipment) and we continue to see our ministries grow in many ways. Our staff is very capable and we have a lot of fun together. Our church is serious about ministry but very fun and outgoing as well.
Our worship style is primarily contemporary but we add hymns sometimes to our sets. We have a very good sound system that is controlled by a digital Yamaha LS9. Our musicians use in ear monitors with Aviom personal mixers. We use Pro-Presenter for our projection
system and Planning Center to schedule musicians and upload music.
We are located at 9851 Bixby Ave. in Garden Grove CA. You can get an idea for who we are at www.livingspring.com or on FaceBook at lscfgg.
Who would fit in well with Living Spring?
Our leadership team would work really well with a worship leader that:
Is on top of it and organized. We let our leaders lead. Because of this we don’t micromanage them. However, we do need certain criteria met for the team. Worship sets for Sunday should be posted no later than Tuesday. Almost always, we will know
what we are preaching on several weeks before so that should help you plan. Hopefully you would have had input into our preaching schedule as well. We often come up with our series together. We sing most of the CCLI top 50 so nothing is overly complicated.
However, if you have musicians you like to work with, we are more than happy to have a variety of different influences and arrangements.
Continues to grow musically. Our leadership team is constantly encouraging each other to keep growing in our respective crafts and strengths. We love it when we can experiment and create and we get frustrated with ourselves if we remain stagnant.
We do our best to help resource each other so that doesn’t happen.
Continues to grow spiritually. We all have issues. However, our church and leadership team is working hard to overcome them. We would love a worship leader that is working hard to grow in Christ. Again, we do our best to help resource and encourage
each other through the journey.
Is joyful. We have a lot of fun at our church and we are open to a lot of creativity. Our leadership team is low on drama.
Lives relatively close. Our church family is very relational. Because of this, it would be great if you currently live in the LA/OC area. This would allow you to be engaged in our community outreach, church activities, etc. as much as possible.
Also, because this is part time, we cannot help you move into the area. We realize that you will most likely have a full time job with responsibilities there as well.
$250 per week. This could go up depending on how capable the applicant is. This job only requires a weekly commitment to lead worship on Sunday morning. Our leaders typically arrive early enough to run through the songs on Sunday. Because the set is not
required to be extremely complicated and because PDF’s are posted early, this tends to work great for us as our musicians will download the music and practice during the week. However, if you want to run weekly practices, introduce various worship elements,
write songs, help grow a worship team etc., we would be thrilled to come up with something together that would accomplish that and work out more appropriate compensation. We don't see this becoming a full time job for at least a year.
What’s the next step? PLEASE READ THIS CAREFULLY - IT'S SUPER FRUSTRATING WHEN THESE INSTRUCTIONS AREN'T FOLLOWED CORRECTLY AND REFLECTS POORLY ON THE APPLICANT.
Please email 1. a resume or something that gives us an idea about your experience, who you are, what you believe and your thoughts on worship and 2. some type of demo or link to
something we can listen to. If you don’t have something like that, please wait until you do. All correspondence can be sent to email@example.com. If you know your 5 StrengthsFinders strengths that would be
great but it’s not required. We do our best to respond to each person that applies. That email address is monitored daily.
PLEASE DO NOT CALL US. WE WILL REPLY TO YOUR EMAIL.
