Job Description:
Living Oaks seeks a Family Life pastor to lead outreach to families, including children and student ministries. This is a new position responsible for leading outreach to families, providing strategic direction for children and student ministries, and developing, supervising and training the leaders of these ministries. This position will work closely with the Community pastor who is responsible for building community and leading discipleship within the church, with specific coordination for discipling families and building community among families. This position would (1) work under the Lead Pastor and closely with church leadership to develop and execute a strategic plan for effectively reaching and transforming families for Jesus Christ, (2) provide pastoral leadership and supervision to the children’s and student ministry leaders, developing and training them, (3) collaborate with the Community pastor and other staff and lay leaders to build community and make disciples within the context of families, and (4) preach and perform other pastoral duties as requested. Responsibilities include: (a) Leadership/Strategic Planning - provide pastoral leadership and strategic planning for all ministry, outreach and programs for family, children and students in line with the church’s vision; supervise and develop leaders of children’s and student ministries; conduct regular, face to face meetings with each leader of children’s and student ministries to discuss ministry performance and strategy implementation; train staff of children’s and student ministries in accordance with the strategic plan; ensure appropriate policies and procedures are in place for children and student ministries; and exemplify servant leadership; (b) Collaboration to Achieve Vision/Mission - collaborate with Community pastor and other staff and lay leaders to design and implement community-building and disciple-making with respect to families, children and students; equip parents to be the primary discipleship leaders to their families; and demonstrate the importance of unity of the body by building and promoting healthy, loving, Christ-like relationships with other staff and laypeople; and (c) Other - develop and manage a budget for the areas of responsibility; preach and carry out pastoral duties as requested (in support of Lead Pastor); and other pastoral or administrative duties as assigned by the Lead Pastor or Elder Board. Desired Attributes include: strong ability to lead and cast vision, good organizational abilities, initiator/self-starter, passion to see families and kids know Jesus, highly relational and works well with others, servant’s heart, humility, and ability to recruit, train and deploy a strong team of paid and volunteer leaders. Qualifications: Seminary degree (obtained or actively in progress), 7+ years experience in vocational ministry, meets Biblical qualifications of an overseer (1 Tim 3:2-7; Tit 1:6-9), and experience leading/managing others.
