Position Summary

Student Ministry Assistant is responsible for developing and equipping two teams of high school students. One team will work as a group to execute a Wednesday Night outreach program. The Assistant is responsible for overseeing the Wednesday Night student program. On the other team, each member will lead an outreach team that will partner with an existing MPCC local/global outreach team. The assistant will also field any other assignments as needed, including teaching at the student service about once a month.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    1.    Develop and equip a team of high school students to plan and execute an outreach program

           to students on Wednesday Nights at MPCC (5 hours)

            a)    Casts a specific vision of outreach

            b)    Teaches the team how to (1) plan a weekly event with a clear vision, (2) take ownership of the

                   ministry, (3) serve others, (4) build relationships with each other and participants and (5) pray

                   for God’s presence.

            c)    Give positive and negative feedback on their performance. Strive for excellence in ministry.

            d)    Meet with the team weekly.

            e)    Be invested in the students’ lives speaking truth with grace and love.

            f)     Encourage the individuals to see their role in God’s Story.

            g)    Develops yearlong goals for team members and helps them to achieve those goals.

 

     2.   Oversee the Wednesday Night Student Program. (3 hours)

           a)    Accountable for its setup, execution and clean up.

           b)    Support student team.

           c)    Ensure the safety of each student that attends.

           d)    Evaluate the night based on achievement of vision and development of the team.

           e)    Guarantee communication of weekly changes with program (including off-site plans, etc.) in

                  advance.

 

     3.   Develop and equip a team of high school students to lead individual outreach teams that partner

           with an existing MPCC local/global partner (5 hours)

           a)    Casts a specific Biblical vision for outreach

           b)    Teaches the students how to (1) develop and equip a team, (2) take ownership of the team

                  and outreach cause, (3) serve others and (4) seek God.

           c)    Give positive and negative feedback on their performance. Strive for excellence in ministry.

           d)    Meet with the team weekly.

           e)    Be invested in the students’ lives speaking truth with grace and love.

           f)     Encourage the individuals to see their role in God’s Story.

           g)    Develops yearlong goals for team members and helps them to achieve those goals.

 

     4.   Executes additional assignments as they arrive (2-4 hours)

           a)    Report weekly to Pastor of Student Ministry on development of high school team and status of

                  Wednesday Nights.

           b)    Teaches in Student Union about once a month.

           c)    Fills in any other areas for Student Ministry as needed.

 

Qualifications

  1. Required: Completion of high school, a working understand of the Bible, Theology and Student Ministry. A vibrant relationship with Christ.
  2. Preferred: Partial or full completion of Undergraduate or Masters level of education, College level study of Bible, Religion or Ministry and/or equivalent.
  3. Highly developed verbal and written communication skills, an ability to act on both aprofessional and personal level with people, work independently as well as part of a team, self-motivated, able to hold others accountable and a high level of emotional intelligence.

The reality is that we work as a team and there are numerous other tasks that will require the participation of the person holding this position.
