Job Description:

The Slingshot Group is partnering with First Presbyterian Church of Glen Ellyn in search of a Director of Worship Ministries to join the team.

First Presbyterian Church of Glen Ellyn (FPGE) has been an impactful presence in the community for over 80 years.  This 1100-member church family is built on rich heritage with great age diversity and a wonderful reputation in the community, along with strong visionary leadership has set up the church for a very promising future.

Currently FPGE offers two different styles of worship every Sunday morning, each hosted in the church sanctuary.  The main contemporary service is led in worship by a worship band and is rhythm section driven.  The hope is for a new leader to bring fresh ideas, and take the service to another level.  The feel of the service is casual, both in ambience as well as in the attire of the congregation.

Under the visionary leadership of Senior Pastor Chris Griggs, there is a strong desire to make both the contemporary and traditional services more engaging with God-honoring worship and praise. Pastor Chris is an authentic, relational leader, whose style of leadership is collaborative, providing the framework for what is expected and then releasing the staff to develop and create their individual ministries.  He has been at FPGE a little over a year and is in the process of building the staff of 14 to meet the present and future needs of the church.  Pastor Chris sees the addition of the Director of Worship Ministries as the next crucial hire for the church.

Glen Ellyn, a Chicago suburb of 27,000 residents, is a desirable community with the appearance of a New England village.  It is a residential/business/retail community situated around beautiful Lake Ellyn, a popular place for ice-skating, fishing, and picnics.  Glen Ellyn has a reputation for its excellent school system, featuring quality private and public schools, including one of the largest community college campuses in the U.S. (College of DuPage).  From the charm of a New England-style village to all the amenities of the large Chicago metropolitan area, residents of Glen Ellyn have the best of both worlds.

FPGE is a wonderful church with a positive reputation in the community.  The Director of Worship Ministries position offers the opportunity to work with gifted staff and volunteers in a wonderful community. It also offers an incredible opportunity to help shape the future of the church through a quality worship ministry.

The ideal candidate for the Director of Worship Ministries has a genuine walk with Christ, and is a gifted, experienced and skilled worship leader able to facilitate high-quality worship experiences in the service structure of FPGE.   The ideal candidate is capable of leading and shepherding teams of staff and volunteers, is disciplined and organized, and committed to the vision, mission and values of FPGE.

If you sense that this position would be a good fit for you, or would like more information, please email with a copy of your resumé, including video/audio worship leading demos.
