Worship Arts Pastor

Job Purpose/Position Summary:


The purpose of this position is to plan, prepare, oversee, and lead all facets of the Worship Arts Ministry of Immanuel Baptist Church to reach the unsaved through music and worship and bring honor and glory to God.





The Minister of Worship Arts will be a man who has accepted Christ as personal Savior and Lord and has a growing relationship with God.  This person will have godly character, be active in church, display stewardship practices of all God-given resources and have the passion and skills for planning and leading worship through music and drama.  This person needs to have excellent communication and organizational skills.    It is also important for this person to have the interpersonal skills to work well with a wide variety of personality types, to exercise discretion, and be able to maintain confidentiality.   This person must have an uncompromising work ethic for excellence as a team player with the Pastoral Staff of IBC and he must fully support the church’s doctrinal statement; vision statement; purpose; methodology and missional efforts.   Education and/or experience in music and worship arts are strongly desired.


Position Responsibilities:


Coordinate and plan all worship services

  Plan and oversee both Worship Services (10 and 11 a.m.)

  Select music for congregational singing

  Schedule all special music

  Prepare order of service

  Set annual goals and objectives for the Worship Arts Ministry of IBC


Oversee all facets of the Worship Arts Ministry

  Direct and rehearse the Immanuel Choir and Praise Team

  Oversee all age graded choirs

  Oversee the orchestra, bell choir, drama, solos, and ensembles

  Choose and purchase music for choir, orchestra, ensembles, etc.

  Purchase and inventory music instruments

  Oversee tuning and upkeep of pianos, keyboards and instruments

  Make sure all music rooms and libraries are in order

  Recruit, enlist, and motivate Worship Arts participants

  Oversee all seasonal and special events decorations in worship centers


Develop and oversee a Worship Arts Ministry Team

  Develop and implement guidelines for the Worship Arts Team

  Enlist 9 members for the Worship Arts Ministry Team

  Members will be selected from: Children’s/Adult Choirs; Orchestra/Tech Teams

  Worship Arts Pastor will schedule and lead Worship Arts Team meetings and ministries

  The team’s purpose is to assist not direct the Worship Arts Pastor in the planning, administration and  

      ministry responsibilities of the overall Worship Arts Ministry of IBC


Additional expectations for the position

  Schedule musical guests and concerts

  Plan services for special church events

  Enlist and Coordinate Tech Teams: sound, video, screen, lighting and Internet for all services

  Organize, supervise, and conduct musicals if necessary

  Be available for Pastoral counseling for anyone upon request

  Formulate annual Worship Arts budget"

  Visit the hospital as assigned according to Pastoral rotation

  Assist in other pastoral duties as needed and requested by Senior Pastor
