Position Summary


The Recruiter is responsible for managing and processing a wide array of HR functions, with the primary emphasis on recruitment-related activities. Essential Duties and Responsibilities




  • Manage full cycle recruiting processes to ensure that the staffing needs of the organization are met through the placement of external hires and employee transfers.
  • Maintain an applicant tracking system (ATS), process related forms, and compile recruitment files.
  • Evaluate applicants by discussing job requirements and applicant qualifications with managers and interviewing applicants using consistent criteria and qualifications that are position specific.
  • Work closely with hiring managers to maximize the effectiveness of the recruiting process.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with hiring managers, HR staff, and other departments within the organization.
  • Negotiate candidate salaries within the approved compensation range, draft offer letters, acquire authorized signature, and distribute letters to the candidate selected for hire.
  • Partner with leadership to forecast and develop plans to support key staffing initiatives.
  • Liaise with the Rock’s web designers to ensure that the career opportunities section on the Rock Church & Academy websites are maintained.
  • Collaborate with other Rock departments to maximize opportunities to communicate job postings to the Church congregation and Academy contacts.
  • Create and implement employment-marketing strategies to attract passive job seekers.
  • Develop and implement search strategies to recruit diverse talent for a multi-site organization.
  • Research and participate in job fairs, as appropriate and effective.
  • Establish a network of applicant search sources by researching and contacting community services, colleges, employment agencies, recruiters, media, and Internet sites.
  • Develop and manage an annual recruitment budget.
  • Avoid legal challenges by remaining current with legislative requirements and enforcing regulations with hiring managers.
  • Develop and facilitate recruitment-related training for hiring managers.
  • Improve the organization’s effectiveness by recommending new policies and monitoring job offers, compensation practices and benefit trends.
  • Manage new hire and employee relocations by determining requirements, acquiring cost approvals, and implementing relocation agreements.
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations.
  • And, other duties as assigned by the Human Resources Director or authorized designee.


HR Administration

  • Complete HRIS and ATS data entry, reporting and statistical analysis.
  • Answer phones, direct calls and take written messages.
  • Create forms, training materials, and PowerPoint presentations.
  • Proofread communications before distribution.
  • Maintain files.
  • And, other duties as assigned by the Human Resources Director or authorized designee.

Job-related Qualifications


Education, Training, and Experience

  • A minimum of 3 years of recruiting experience.
  • Experience recruiting for non-profit and educational institutions is a plus.
  • Associate’s degree or higher preferred.


Job Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Ability to multitask, prioritize assignments, and provide excellent customer service.
  • Read, write, spell, and communicate clearly in English.
  • Work productively, both independently and collaboratively with others.
  • Follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office for MAC (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).


Organizational and Spiritual Requirements:


  • Demonstrate Christ-centered behavior at all times by treating people with dignity, respect, compassion and integrity.
  • Utilize the principles of Matthew 18 and Ephesians 4:15 to resolve differences of opinion with others.
  • Successful completion of thorough pre-employment references and background checks, which includes: social security verification, local, State & Federal criminal conviction records search, national security database, and sex offender registry.
  • Attendance at all mandatory meetings and events.  This includes serving at Good Friday, Easter and Christmas services as well as the annual volunteer appreciation event.
  • Member of the Rock Church (or willing to transfer membership to the Rock Church).
  • Regular involvement in Rock Church activities, ministries and events.
  • Tithe 10% to the Rock Church.
  • Signed acknowledgment of the Rock’s Statement of Faith.
  • Ability to interpret and adhere to the Rock’s policies, procedures and employee handbook.

Physical Requirements:


Must be able to work independently, communicate effectively, and lift up to 20lbs (with or without assistance). This position also may require long periods of sitting, standing, walking, and hand/eye coordination for keyboard data entry and viewing data on a computer monitor.
