Job Description:

New Town United Methodist Church (NTUMC), located in Williamsburg, Virginia is seeking to fill the part-time staff position of Director of Worship Ministries.  NTUMC is a Spirit-filled, evangelical United Methodist congregation that follows the Simple Church model, as together we live out our purpose statement: Love God - Love Others - Share Christ with the World.  Just over 13 years old as a worshiping community, our average weekly worship attendance is currently 363.

We are seeking a joyful, enthusiastic and pro-active servant leader who will develop, encourage and mentor musicians and singers in the life of the church. In relationship with the leadership of the Lead Pastor, the Director of Worship Ministries will be a crucial element in facilitating a Christ-centered, theologically sound, celebratory and creative worship experience for all our services. The person should hold and embody a solid theology and practice of worship and, as a role model for the congregation, have a solid devotional life and depth of Biblical knowledge.  The Director of Worship Ministries is expected to be or become familiar with the doctrinal standards of the United Methodist Church.

Primarily, the Director of Worship Ministries is responsible for the coordination and oversight of the music ministries of the church, including the Adult Praise band, Adult Praise Choir, Youth Praise Band and King’s Kids Choir. He/she must demonstrate a genuine appreciation for, and competence with, both traditional and contemporary musical expressions and be comfortable relating to different generations.

We are looking for someone with a deep love for God who leads with integrity, character and skill. The person must be a team player, able to work in harmony and unity with and alongside other staff and volunteers. Three to five years of experience in leading an adult praise band, choral conducting, and vocal performance is required – a Bachelors degree in music is preferred.

To apply, please send a current resume including at least 3 personal and professional references, together with a recent video of you leading a praise band in a corporate worship service setting. The deadline for applications is Friday, August 23, 2013.
