Christ the King Anglican Church
Job Description:

Full-time salary with health benefits.    40 hours/week.

Location: San Jose, CA (San Francisco Bay Area)

Christ the King Anglican Church (http://www.ctkanglican.com) is affiliated with The Anglican Mission in the Americas: A Society of Mission and Apostolic Works (http://www.theamia.org), and we are also partnered with the missional leaders at 3DM (http://www.weare3dm.com), a missional discipleship training group.  Carefully read through those sites, and you’ll gain an understanding of our identity.  CTK Anglican is actually 50+ years old, and has had various iterations over the years. In 2000, Christ the King Anglican Church was a founding member of The Anglican Mission.   We are Evangelical, Sacramental, and Charismatic in our expression of being the fullness of Christ’s Church.  These “Three Streams” of Christendom are kept in balance as part of our values and ministry philosophy.  For the last 3 years we have been in transition toward a “restart” and re-launch of the church in mission clarity and outreach to the community.  The launch started this year in earnest, and we would like to add someone in strategic leadership to help us move forward. Like most new church-plants, we are small (40 people) and seeking to staff for growth. We have investment funds from which this full-time position will be guaranteed for no less than four years, regardless of present income during that time.

Who we are: We are an extended family who balances our lives Up, In, and Out—Up to God in worship and prayer; In to his church in service to the body of Christ; and Out to the community through evangelism and compassion.

Mission: Reach people for Jesus Christ and Make Disciples who can Reproduce themselves in others.

Job Description:  This full-time position requires a uniquely gifted individual who feels called to, and passion for, ministry through worship arts and also ministry with youth (6th-12th grades).  Additionally, the best fit will be someone already experienced and familiar with traditional and contemporary Anglican worship—therefore, Anglican “liturgical worship arts” captures the essence of the role. We need this person to have an understanding of how to express and lead worship that is rooted in Anglican heritage yet flexibly expresses in contemporary and relevant ways the purpose of the liturgy and visual arts in the liturgical seasons of the year. (If you’re not literally Anglican, but sense that you’re “close,” then you may send your resume, too.)  Here’s an example: We use music from Chris Tomlin and Matt Maher often, and we still regularly say (traditionally) the Nicene Creed and each week set aside time for corporate confession (sometimes spoken aloud, sometimes silent).  Think “Ancient-Future.”

From the perspective of worship, the leader will lead vocally and with a guitar and/or keyboard/piano as his primary instruments. As the worship arts leader, you will help to build, train, and rehearse the team of musicians to serve together in various environments. We presently meet in a school auditorium equipped with sound, media, and lighting.  As the church grows, we will likely move into other facilities.  You will work with the senior pastor (rector) to envision the flow of worship according to thematic sermon series and liturgical seasons.  You will also be responsible for the administration of the team, information, worship flow, tracking songs used (for reporting to CCLI and to balance use of songs weekly), and team scheduling. You’ll use Planning Center Online as your primary resource tool.

See http://www.planningcenteronline.com

You will need to balance the requirements of time needed to find and learn new material with the hands-on team-related work. Depending upon the week and season of the year, this role could involve 15-30 hours of time in any given week.

You will also take the primary lead with regard to vision for youth ministries for years to come and work through those ideas prayerfully with the senior pastor (rector), who will provide spiritual direction and coaching. You will build a team and train them.  You’ll lead the midweek gatherings and social functions, too.  Appropriate funding will exist for supplies, training and conferences as part of your on-going leadership and development of teams.  Time involved is 10-20 hours/week, depending upon the season of the year.

Note:  We will collect resumes during July and August. You will receive a reply acknowledging receipt of your resume. However, the senior pastor will be on vacation until August 11. No meetings will take place to discuss any candidate until he returns.  You will receive status updates at least every other week once candidates begin to be considered.  Please don’t call the church office.
